Statement of Faith

Contender's Edge believes and teaches the following:

1.  The universe and all that is in it was created by the Lord God (Genesis chapters 1-2) being the source of all life, the source of truth (John 14:6) being the definer of what is right and wrong and good and evil, and who is a triune being existing in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) same in character and equal in attributes and power; one God in three persons and three persons in one God (Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20, Colossians 2:9)

2. That all, since Adam, the first man God created and from whom all of humanity is descended, have sinned in one way or another and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), meaning that we have failed to attain to His standard of moral perfection and perfect design, and that the sin of Adam has affected not only man himself, but all of creation as well, and that because of sin, death is in the world. (Romans 8:19-23)

3. That because of sin, all are in danger of facing judgment, as the justice of God demands the eventual punishment of sin and that this punishment, when it comes, will be the sentence of eternal damnation--meaning eternal suffering and torment.

4. That in His love and mercy, God sent Christ Jesus our Lord, born of the virgin Mary, (Mt. 1-2, Lk. 1-2) into this world to pay the penalty for all of our sins through His death on the cross, and that He rose from the dead so that anyone placing their trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sins will not have to suffer eternal damnation, but will receive salvation, (John 3:16) and that on the cross upon which Christ was crucified the demands of justice and the need for mercy were both satisfied, that we are saved by Grace through Christ and not by our works (Ephesians 2:8-9) but that the gift of Grace should not be used as an excuse to remain in sin. (Romans 6:1-2,  Hebrews 10:26-27)

5. That Jesus being sinless and perfect, as God the Father is sinless and perfect, was that perfect sacrifice being offered up on the behalf of fallible man, (Hebrews 4:15) that the blood shed was sufficient for the cleansing of all sin. (Hebrews 9:14, 10:9-19)

6. That Jesus is our God through whom all things were created and by whose power all things exist. (John 1:1-4)

7. That those placing their full trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sins will be saved and will go to Heaven when they die, (Romans 10:12) and those who refuse to repent of their sins will suffer eternal damnation in Hell.

8. That Christ currently is dwelling at the right hand of God the Father and will return again, at a time not known (Acts 1:7) for His saints to receive them to Himself and protect them from a period of great judgment called the tribulation (Revelation 3:10) which all those who are left behind on the earth will have to endure (even those who do come to Christ during that time period which has yet to take place).

9. That Christ will return again, at the end of the great tribulation to reign in Jerusalem, His chosen city for a thousand years. (Revelation 20)

10. That the Bible, from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21, is the infallible and divinely inspired Word of God, (2 Timothy 3:16-17) designed to be its own interpreter and that it must be regarded as our final authority in all matters and that all doctrines and all claims must be tested against the context of scripture (Acts 17:11) and not the other way around, and that the insight and teachings and claims of men, no matter how knowledgeable, insightful, and well educated they may be are subject to error and are not above testing or scrutiny.

11. That there is an Adversary called Lucifer, also known as Satan who is relentlessly fighting against the church and against ever believer in Christ, seeking to render them impotent in their service to Christ in any way possible, who is actively attempting to deceive as many people as possible for the purpose of leading them into everlasting destruction, and that he will eventually suffer a final defeat at the hands of Christ our Lord. (Revelation 20:10)

12. That death was never meant to have a role in Gods' creation, but instead was a consequence of the disobedience of Adam and Eve (Romans 5:12-17) and the end result of sin; (Romans 6:23) that it is called an enemy (1 Cor. 15:26) and will eventually abolished upon the creation of a new heavens and a new earth in which there will be no death, nor any suffering or pain, but will that perfect place that He had once intended creation to be in the beginning. (Revelation 20:14)
