Transgender Rights At The Expense Of Common Sense And Public Safety

In 2015, Fallon Fox, a transgendered MMA fighter became the target of criticism after injuring an opponent.  Fox was born a man but is under the delusion that he is a woman and changed his gender accordingly.  Because he identifies as a woman, he was placed in the female division of the MMA.

In just the first two minutes, due to his strength advantage, he defeated female opponent, Tamikka Brents,  Brents suffered several injuries including a concussion and a damaged orbital bone.  The referee stopped the match before further damage could be done.

"I have never felt so overpowered ever in my life," Brents said.  "I've fought a lot of women," she continued,  "And never felt the strength I felt in a fight as I did that night...and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right." [1]

What will the MMA do next?  When MMA first came on the scene, it was known as the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) in which men of various combat and martial arts styles would compete.  Almost anything went and the injuries fighters sustained were horrific, which is why the UFC made a set of rules that now make MMA matches appear to be nothing more than a clumsy brawl.  Regardless of what style of martial arts the fighters specialize in, every fight looks the same.  But now with this latest incident, more rules could be added to MMA that could take all the fun and excitement out of the sport.  The most likely reason Fallon Fox was placed in the female division of the MMA was for the purpose of avoiding a lawsuit.  Instead of keeping the participating athletes safe from unprecedented harm, they capitulated to the LGBT agenda.

Instead of adding more rules, it should be our hope and prayers that the MMA community will muster the courage to retain and enforce the common sense that states: If you are biologically born a man, you are a man.  If you are born a woman you are a woman.  Regardless of what sex change attempts either might make, they will always retain the physical traits of the biological gender with which they are born.

A man who thinks he is a woman will always possess a male genetic code, a masculine body shape, bone structure unique to a man, and masculine muscle structure.  Even if he undergoes hormonal and surgical procedures to change his gender, he will never be able to possess female reproductive organs because he was never born with them.  The same applies to women who are under the delusion that they are men.  They may undergo hormonal and surgical procedures in an attempt to change themselves accordingly, but they will always possess physical and genetic traits unique to their biological gender.

Common sense calls for Fallon Fox and others like him (this author refuses to call him a "her")
to be classified in the gender division consistent with the gender with which they were biologically born, regardless of what gender they believe themselves to be.  There need not be any changes to MMA rule book.  The safety and privacy of the athletes ought to take precedent over special transgender rights, even if it takes an act of civil disobedience.  But the consequences of special rights for transgenders and for LGBT people altogether goes beyond the MMA.

Two years ago, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into a law granting transgendered students in the public school system to use whatever restrooms they wished and to join which ever sports team division they feel is consistent with whichever gender they believe themselves to be regardless of their biological gender.

Supporters of the law stated that it would protect transgendered students from bullying, but opponents of the law stated that it would put the privacy of students at risk. [1, 2, 3, 4]   In other words, a boy or a man who claims to identify himself as a woman could share the same restrooms and locker rooms with girls and women and a woman claiming to identify as a man could do vice versa, a concern expressed by many parents of students attending public school, including Tim Donnelly, a California lawmaker who pulled his sons from their local public school district in response to the passing of the law. [5]

But what is worse than privacy violations is the safety of students.  California is not the only state to have passed similar laws granting transgendered students the privilege of using restrooms and locker rooms for genders opposite of their biologic gender.  Washington, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Colorado have passed similar laws that they say will protect transgendered students; no doubt that sex-offenders are taking notes.

Such folly, unless actively challenged, will not be contained to just the schools, but may also be imposed upon the rest of society at which point, not only schools, but even businesses and professional sports associations will be required to allow transgendered people to use facilities and join teams they believe is consistent with the gender they consider themselves to be.

It will only be a matter of time before child molesters and rapists take advantage of these dangerous laws and more cases of sexual harassment occur, and more women and children are raped, sexually molested, kidnapped and possibly murdered.  Parents have every reason to be concerned for the safety of their children and every boyfriend and husband for the safety of their wives and girlfriends.

Ruth Davis, a mother of six, expressed concern about how this could affect her nine year old daughter whom she said was going to be attending a K-8 school saying that she could "potentially have a 14 year old boy walk in on her in the bathroom.  I don't understand how we're protecting all the children." [4]

To which supporters of such laws have no adequate response.  Bullying LGBT people is wrong and they should be treated with respect and understanding, but it is also wrong to support the passage of laws that place innocent people in danger of becoming victimized by dangerous criminals.  Only in a society that has increasingly rejected the authority of the God who established it in the first place can such maddening policies become possible, for when a society rejects the authority of the Maker, wisdom and reason are abandoned and in their place comes foolishness and madness.

There may be many reasons why some people feel that their biological gender was a mistake, but that is a subject for another post.  But there is a God in Heaven by whose hand we were "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Ps. 139:14) and who has shaped and formed each and everyone of us to carry out a specific role or function for which He has destined each and every one of us, but for His glory and to be a force for that which is good in His sight.  God does not make mistakes.  He knows what He is doing all the time.  We may not understand everything He does or why He permits this or does not allow that, but it is all for a greater good.  To suggest otherwise is a blasphemous lie.
