Two Visions, Two Different Ends: Which One Is Correct Or Are They Both Wrong?
Shortly after the
attempted assassination of rightful President Donald Trump, a professing
prophet by the name of Brandon Biggs claimed that he had foretold the attempt
on Trump’s life four months prior but in order to verify this, I did some
research and sure enough, I did find that Brandon Biggs did appear to foretell
an attempt on Trump’s life dating back four months from the attempt on Trump’s
life and he described the event exactly the way it appeared to happen.
In the video
produced by Steve Cioccolanti & Discover Ministries Biggs, about 10
minutes and 49 seconds in describes what he saw in his vision and in it, he saw
a bullet fly past Trump’s ear, but not without inflicting damage which Biggs
believed to be a ruptured ear drum. It
is at this point, Biggs says that Trump is on his knees and becomes radically
born again. Biggs goes on to say that
Trump wins the presidency, (and we all hope and pray that he does) but that
America still goes through a dark season, but is restored with a Great
Awakening that turns the nation back to God [1] (and we all hope and pray every day that
might somehow be the case, especially if the return of Christ should tarry for
some time more)
And for those of
us who have watched the footage of the assassination attempt, [2] and have viewed
images of Trump in that prone position after he was shot at, it would appear
that things happened exactly as foretold: The bullet DID pass by Trump’s ear,
but not without inflicting damage. The
bullet grazed the upper part of his right ear, but there has not been word of
any damage to his ear drum or his hearing being impaired in any way, shape or
form which has led many to be skeptical of whether or not the assassination
attempt was a fulfillment of a prophecy given [3-4]
Brandon Biggs, in
response to his critics stated the reason why he thought that Trump, in his
vision had suffered a ruptured or busted eardrum and it was because he had seen
blood on Trump’s face [5]
and
it does turn out that ruptured or busted eardrums can and do in fact bleed [6]
but whether or not
a ruptured eardrum would bleed profusely enough to produce the amount of blood
that was on Trump, I do not know. Biggs
stated that the reason why he got that part wrong is because, in short, he
wasn’t shown the full picture of everything that was to happen and therefore
assumed that Trump had suffered a ruptured eardrum. [7]
Now, does a
mistake like that render Brandon Biggs a false prophet who cannot and must not
ever be trusted? That would be the first impression, but the fact the foretold
events took place with such improbable accuracy cannot be reasonably denied. Whether or not the genuine spiritual change that
Biggs foretold would take place in Trump after the attempt on his life remains
to be seen. Trump has been known to
routinely appeal to the authority of God but he has repeatedly stated that it
is only by the grace of God that he is still alive [8-9] and that he is
even more of a believer in God than ever before. [10]
Whether or not
Trump, against all odds, does get elected, or if the foretold financial
collapse occurs during his second term, and if that event ends with a
nationwide return to Christ remains to be seen and if these things DO take
place, then Brandon Biggs may very well be a true prophet of God, but if any or
all of these things fail to take place, then he cannot be considered a true
prophet of God and two tests to determine if a professed prophet may be of God
or not is if everything he or she says comes to pass (Deut. 18:22) and if they
adhere to the doctrine and authority of scripture. But if any of their foretellings fails to
transpire or if the word they speak is in opposition to scripture, we are
admonished to not give heed to anything more that they have to say. (Deut. 13:1-3,
18:20)
I did further
research in to Biggs and I have not found anything from him to be necessarily
unbiblical but there are some problems with some of the other purported visions
he claims to have had. In a two-part
video he produced, he foretells that a deadly pestilence, worse than COVID,
will come upon the earth and kill as many as 350 million people worldwide and
that it, in short will cause an economic catastrophe that will lead to the
implementation of a digital currency because people would be too afraid to
handle cash for fear of catching this sickness. [11] In the second video he produced on
the subject, he stated that the Lord showed him that the people this pestilence
would target would be people who are obese and diabetic and that this
pestilence is not one of nature but one produced by way of A.I. technology
designed to target people who are overweight. [12]
Now, the entire
vision, if Biggs was really given such a vision, does not seem like a vision
for our time as he seems to believe, but instead is a vision more consistent
with the opening of the fourth seal described in the book of Revelation. The Apostle John recounted:
I looked, and
behold, a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed
with him. And power was given unto them
over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and
with death, and with the beasts of the earth. (Rev. 6:8)
If pestilence,
famine, war, and animals are responsible for killing as much as anywhere
between a billion to two billion people in the early stages of the tribulation,
then it would make sense that 350 million people around the world might die
from a pestilence in that day and that this could have a profound global
economic impact which then could give the Anti-Christ justification to
implement a one-world currency and render obsolete all domestic currencies via
possibly a digital currency which then will enable him to later impose his mark
upon the entire world (Rev. 13)
If anything at
all, Biggs may have been given insight as to what events will take place during
the tribulation that will give the Anti-Christ justification to take control of
the global economy, but not necessarily anything having to do with today. He just happened to misunderstand the vision
as being one of an event to take place prior to the rapture of the Church
instead of a vision of events taking place during the tribulation, just as he
mistakenly thought the blood on Trump’s face was from a ruptured eardrum instead
of a wound on his ear.
But I will say one
thing in that I would never put it past the present global powers that be to
produce a virus designed to specifically target a certain group or class of
people for the purpose of eliminating them from the face of the planet; there
are people in positions of authority and influence around the world who are
that evil but regardless, it is only prudent that we do all we can to prepare
ourselves for an outbreak of pestilence, supply shortages, and economic
collapse whether it be investing in gold or silver or stocking up on food and
supplies necessary for being able to endure and weather such difficult and
catastrophic times.
And I do not know
what is going to happen with this upcoming election, but if a season of
prosperity and abundance does return to us, I would advise all of you out there
to not take it for granted, but rather use that season of abundance to prepare
and ready yourselves for the dark and difficult times that may still lie ahead. Winter may not last forever, but neither do
spring, summer, or fall.
And as for any
visions of the tribulation, Brandon Biggs claims to have had one of those as
well [13] and as I was
listening to what he had to say regarding his vision, I did not find anything
to be doctrinally amiss per se, but he did mention a scene in which people were
attending a weekly worship service of the Anti-Christ at a temple and around
this temple were large projector screens upon which his image was displayed and
if this is supposed to be the means by which the image of the beast is created
and given life, then I am sorry, but I am afraid that it will take more than a
projector screen to create and give life to the image of the beast described in
the book of Revelation (Rev. 13) and not that Biggs states outrightly that this
will be the means, but seems to be implied nonetheless.
And as I was
compiling and writing this post, I came across another man whose professed
visions for America had a different end.
A man by the name of William Branham claimed to have received seven
visions in 1933 about what would happen in America before the return of Christ. The reason why I decided to do some research
on this man’s prophecies is because of a certain vision that Branham allegedly
had which was brought up by a man by the name of Perry Stone [14] and it had to do
with Kamala Harris possibly being a fulfillment of a prophecy allegedly given
by Branham, but more on that further in the post and as I did some research on
William Branham and his seven visions, I really do not see how anyone could ever
consider William Branham a true prophet because he preached a lot of false
doctrines and some of his visions never actually came to pass but to go into an
in-depth analysis and critique of the man might go beyond the initial topic of
this blogpost and so, may very well pursue for a future blogpost, but as for this
particular post, my focus will be mainly on his visions.
The vision that Perry
Stone believes may actually involve Kamala Harris has to do with Branham’s foretelling
of an evil woman who would become President and who would oppress the nation,
but that is not the only vision that Branham had. He allegedly had seven visions which a
Branhamist website lays out as follows:
The Seven Visions
Vision One:
He saw in a vision
that the dictator of Italy, Benito Mussolini, would invade Ethiopia and
according to the voice speaking to him, Ethiopia “would fall at his
(Mussolini’s) steps”. However, the voice continued and prophesied a dread end
of the dictator, for he would have a horrible death and his own people would
literally spit on him.
Vision Two:
The next vision
indicated America would be drawn into a world war against Germany which would
be headed up by the Austrian, Adolph Hitler. The voice predicted that this
terrible war would overthrow Hitler and he would come to a mysterious “end”. In
this vision he was shown the Siegfried line whereat a great toll of American
lives would be exacted, but Hitler would be defeated.
Vision Three:
The third part of
the vision showed that though there were three ISMS, Fascism, Nazism, Communism
in the world: that the first two would come to nothing but that Communism would
flourish. The voice admonished him to keep his eyes on “Russia” concerning
future involvements, for Fascism and Nazism would end up in Communism.
Vision Four:
The fourth vision
that appeared to him was one in which there was predicted to be tremendous
technological advances right after the war. This was symbolized by an egg
shaped car with a plastic bubble roof, going down beautiful highways completely
under perfect remote control. There was no steering wheel in the car and the
occupants of the car appeared to be playing a game like checkers.
Vision Five:
The fifth scene
that appeared involved the womanhood of the world. In this scene there appeared
the fast moral decay of women. Starting back when she received her so-called
liberty to enter into worldly affairs by means of the vote, she soon began to
wear clothes that were too revealing. she bobbed her hair and adopted the
clothing of men. Finally the vision showed her all but stripped naked and she
merely covered herself with a tiny apron about the size and shape of a fig
leaf. With her womanhood so little valued a terrible decay of all flesh came
upon the earth and with it perversion even as set forth by the Word of God.
Vision Six:
Then there arose
in the United States a most beautiful woman clothed in splendor, and great
power was given to her. She was lovely of feature but there was a hardness
about her that defied description. Beautiful as she was, she was yet cruel,
wicked and cunning. She dominated the land with her authority, she had complete
power over the people. The vision indicated that either such a woman would
literally arise or that this woman of the vision was merely a type of an
organization which is scripturally characterized by a female. Though the voice
did not speak out and reveal who she was, he felt in his heart that this woman
represented the rising Roman Catholic Church, and he inserted in parenthesis
beside at the end of this vision which he had written out, (perhaps the
Catholic church)
Vision Seven:
The voice bade him
look once more. As he turned and beheld, a great explosion rent the entire
land, and left the land of America a smoldering, chaotic ruin. As far as the
eye could see there was naught but craters, smoking piles of debris, and no
humanity in sight.
The vision then
faded away. [15]
Despite having
claimed to have received these visions in 1933, Branham did not reveal them to
anyone until as late as 1955, claiming that he had written them down on some
papers that he had hidden away in a cornerstone of the Branham Tabernacle, [16] but when the
cornerstone was exhumed, the papers were nowhere to be found, [17] leaving no means
to verify whether or not these visions were given before or after the fact, but
even without the papers to verify Branham’s claims either way, his prophetic visions,
for the most part, have already been discredited and proven false and what
already draws suspicion in the first place is that Branham admitted that he
could not recall the year that he had allegedly written down those prophecies,
but stated that he had written them down somewhere between the years of 1931
and 1933. [18] He also went on
to state that his alleged prophecies would be subject to change. [19]
As for the visions
themselves, without any evidence or documentation to demonstrate otherwise,
Branham’s prophecies concerning World War II, as far as skeptics are concerned,
could have easily been given after the fact instead of before, but the most
damning evidence against the validity of his visions is that concerning his
visions pertaining to automotive advancements as the “egg” shaped and
driverless vehicles were already envisioned by innovators as early as the
nineteen twenties, [20-22]
roughly
a decade (give or take a few years) before Branham’s alleged visions which
raises questions as to their authenticity.
Now for the third
vision, I will grant this much in that fascism and Naziism no longer appear to
be a political influence on the world stage and Communism did seem to be on the
rise until the collapse of the Soviet Union which dealt what appeared to be a deathblow
to Communism in Europe, but it turns out that Communism in Europe has not
suffered a final defeat. It just went
underground for a time and is now experienced a resurgence in nations like
Nepal and Eritrea which it has taken over and you can even say that it has even
taken over like Venezuela. We are
threatened with it here in the US and it continues to maintain a stronghold in
much of south east Asia, China, and in Cuba and fascism is not entirely dead
either as we see elements of it in Canada, France, and now more recently, Great
Britain and going back to China, it needs to be noted that China is not a
Communist nation in the purest sense but is rather Communist in name only
because it has adopted some measure of capitalism into its society and has
become more of a fascist state than a Communist state.
Fascism is a form
of socialism and like Communism, is authoritarian in nature, but unlike
Communism, capitalism is not entirely eliminated though heavily regulated, but
in Communism, there is no private enterprise; everything is collectivized and
centralized. In a Communist nation, the
government decides what is produced and how much of it is produced and how much
the citizens should pay for the products they buy, but any professing Communist
nation that adopts any measure of private enterprise is no longer Communist in
the purest sense, at least economically speaking, even if the government
remains authoritarian in nature.
As for the
foretold moral decline of women, it shouldn’t be any surprise that there should
be such a moral decline and not just among women, but men as well as there are
several scripture passages that foretell of the moral decline of the world in
the last days and we are living in such a time, but as for the women, it is not
an uncommon thing to see lewdly and immodestly dressed women, but they have not
yet become as lewd as what William Branham described although judging by the
way things are presently trending, unless our Lord returns before then, it
would not be far-fetched to think that women could one day become as lewd as
what he foretells, but what is troubling about this vision is that Branham
seems to be fixated on the moral decline of women and not on mankind in general
as he was known to have a misogynistic bent towards women as was made evident
in his heretical and contemptible serpent seed doctrine:
There is nothing
designed to be so deceitful as a woman that's
deceitful. There
cannot be nothing else; there's nothing made to be
that way. Also
there is nothing that could be so easily deceived as a
woman. Now, the
fall proves this statement to be true, the fall in the
beginning.
She was not in the
original beginning creation. She was in Adam, but
not in a female
sex herself at the beginning. She was a byproduct, made.
Now, there's
nothing designed that can deceive and be deceived as easy
as a woman. There
is nothing designed or can stoop as low as a woman
can. Think now.
There's nothing designed in all creation that can stoop
as low as a woman
can.
She can tear a
man's heart to pieces easier than
anything else
there is in the world–is his wife. Let it–that nice
little wife get to
run around with some other man. Look at that fellow
setting there with
his children, the tears dropping out of his eyes.
She is designed
that way. She is designed to do this.
There is no hog,
no dog, or no other animal designed like her or can
stoop as low as
she can stoop. Now, that is true. With regards to my
sisters, I just
want you to watch. No animal can be immoral. You call
the dog a slut
(the female dog). You call the male–hog a sow, but her
morals is a
million miles beyond many a Hollywood stars. That's how low
she's designed to
stoop.
She can't… Just
think of this now: there's
nothing in the
world made in God's creation that can be immoral, stoop
that low.
You say,
"Wait a minute: and man." We're going to get to that. The woman has
to say, "Yes."
Notice, there's
nothing designed to stoop so low or be filthy but a
woman. A dog can't
do it; a hog can't do it; a bird can't do it; no
animal is immoral,
nor it can be, for it is not designed so it can be.
A female hog can't
be immoral; a female dog can't be immoral; a female
bird can't be
immoral. A woman is the only thing can do it. Now, you
see where Satan
went? See? But still she has… She's the one that's
got the power to
say "yes" or "no." See? Depends on where she wants to
hold herself. See?
She is designed
alone for filth and unclean living. A dog can't; no
other female can.
It's just the woman that can. A dog or any other
animals: once a
year, and that for her babies, not for sexual pleasure,
but for her
babies. The old sow hog, the old slut dog: once a year, one
moment; that's for
her babies. But a woman is designed for any time she
desires.
She is the only
specie–specie of female that is made prettier than
the–the male.
There's not another specie among anything. All other
creatures of God
is beautiful males, such as in animals, birds, and so
forth. Always the
male is pretty.
Look at the big
buck deer: big fine horns, great specie, and the little
humble doe. Look
at the big rooster with all of his pretty feathers and
the little brown
hen. Look at the birds: the cock and the hen. Why? Why
was it such of all
the creatures of God? Every creature in the male is
the prettiest.
Between the sheep, between the–the hogs, between the
horses, between
anything else, it's always the big male that's pretty,
and in the birds;
but in the human race it's the woman that's pretty,
not the man. If he
is, there's something wrong. It's crossed up seed
somewhere,
originally it's that way.
Why? Why was it
done? To deceive by. Her designer, Satan, is still
working on her too
in these last days. Let me stop here just for a
moment.
Now, there's
nothing can stoop like her, and she is designed so that
she can be
deceiving. And Satan is really working on her today (in
these last days),
because he is her designer. I could prove that now,
to go right back
at the beginning. Who started to work on her, Adam or
Satan? God or
Satan? See? That's her designer. It's her chief weapon to
throw men to her
filth. Being a pretty woman, she can sway a man any
way she wants to.
Brother, it ain't the bootleg joint down here that
gets the man; it's
the pretty woman walking down the street twisting
herself, half
dressed. That's what takes… That's the deceiver right
there. And she's
deadly with it, absolutely deadly. You may question me
about Satan being
her designer, but that's the truth. Satan designed
her. He still does
it.
Let me show you
something in the Scripture. I got to take you back to
Scripture and you
draw your opinion as you look at it today. Satan is
the one who
features that kind of beauty. If we'll notice, he was the
most beautiful of
all these Angels in heaven. That right? And he
desired to make
heaven a more beautiful place than the kingdom of
Michael's. Is that
right? Also to show that Cain was his son, he
offered a more
beautiful worship, decorated his altars with fruits and
flowers and so
forth. Is that right? Beautiful, sin is beautiful, what
we call beauty
today. And sin is deceiving by beauty. You'd never look
at a woman going
down the street and tell what's in her heart. See? But
I wanted to say
these things so that you could see why that Satan is
her designer.
That's exactly right. His own son proved it: Cain. [23]
And if that is not
misogynism, then I don’t know what is. Such
hateful and contemptible rhetoric is not found even amongst most other
fundamentalist and traditionalistic preachers and I do not see how any woman
would ever want to embrace Branhamism if this is what it teaches about women,
but that is not the only false doctrine that he had taught; there are others,
but that is for another blogpost.
And in his
foretelling of a beautiful, well dressed, but evil woman attaining the
presidency by way of a women’s popular vote, Branham was not sure if his vision
was figurative or literal, and though it might have been a preposterous notion
of a woman become President of the United States in the early and mid-twentieth
century, it certainly is not a preposterous notion today, and Kamala Harris
fits the mold of what Branham described.
She is attractive, well-dressed, and she is also evil, and of all the
visions of his that I would pray to be false, this one I pray to be a false
prophecy on his part, just as other visions of his have turned out to be false
prophecies but to be clear, I am not against female presidents; I just don’t
want the first female President to be an anti-Christ, baby-killing, tax-hiking,
overregulating, open-borders, crime-enabling, LGBT behavior affirming,
gun-grabbing, electoral cheating, truth suppressor like Kamala Harris is and
that is exactly what we are going to get if she wins this election and there is
nothing in place to restrain her evil and what is even more sad about that
vision is how it ends: With America being destroyed along with its inhabitants
and what is even more troubling is that Branham leaves no instruction for what
the righteous should do to prepare for such an event. It is as if the righteous are destroyed
alongside the wicked but if there is any reason to believe this to be a false
prophecy is because the Bible says that the righteous will never be subject to
God’s wrath (1 Thess. 5:9) and what gives us confidence in this promise is that
God preserved Noah and all who were with him aboard the ark during the great
flood, (Gen. 6-8) He sent his angels to
deliver Lot and his family out of Sodom and Gomorrah before those cities were
destroyed for their wickedness, (Gen. 19) He has promised escape for His saints
before the foretold tribulation that is to come upon the earth, (Rev. 3:10) and
towards the end of the tribulation, He calls for those who come to repentance
during the tribulation to flee the city of Babylon before its final destruction
(Rev. 18) and so if God continues to hold back the feared judgment upon
America, it will only be for the sake of those who continue to intercede on
behalf of the nation and for those who continue to actively call as many souls
as are willing to repentance in Jesus Christ and for those still challenging,
speaking out against, and opposing the wickedness and evil taking place in our
nation.
But if there is
another reason to believe that this vision may be false and possibly plagiarized,
it is because another alleged prophet named A.A. Allen gave a similar vision
about the sad and tragic fate of America at least six years before Branham’s
vision only this one contained greater detail than the one professed by Branham
thus, once again, making the authenticity of Branham’s vision questionable, but
at least one positive that can be said of A.A. Allen’s vision is that it does
end with hope for the people of God whereas the vision of Branham ends without
any hope for anyone, but then again, for the sake of fairness and objectivity, Branham
may not have been given as much detail about the seeming end of America as A.A Allen
and in scripture, it is not uncommon for different prophets to be given the
same message but with different details: For example, both Jeremiah and Isaiah
foretell the fall of Babylon, but Isaiah was given a foretelling of the fall of
the Babylonian empire but not Babylon’s full and complete destruction as a
nation and a people, whereas Jeremiah was given a foretelling of the fall of
not only just the Babylonian empire, but also the end of Babylon as a nation
and people. The end of Allen’s vision
foretold:
And then to my
ears came another sound - a sound of distant singing. It was the sweetest music
I had ever heard. There was joyful shouting, and sounds of happy laughter.
Immediately, I knew it was the rejoicing of the saints of God. I looked, and
there high in the heaven, above the smoke and poisonous gases, above the noise
of battle, I saw a huge mountain. It seemed to be of solid rock, and I knew at
once that this was the Mountain of the Lord. The sounds of music and rejoicing
were coming from a cleft, high up in the side of the rock mountain.
It was the saints
of God who were doing the rejoicing. It was God's own people who were singing
and dancing and shouting with joy, safe from all harm which had come upon the
earth, for they were hidden away in the cleft of the rock. There in the cleft, they
were shut in, protected by a great, giant hand which reached out of the
heavens, and which was none other than the hand of God, shutting them in, until
the storm be over-passed. [24]
It would seem as
though the vision is implying that the foretold destruction of America will not
happen until the saints are caught up to meet the Lord in Heaven and if that is
the case, then we who have the love and fear of God in our minds, hearts, and
souls need not worry about witnessing the complete destruction of our nation for
it is for a time that Christ has promised to keep us from, (Rev. 3:10) but they
who have not in repentance place their trust in Christ for the salvation of
their souls and the forgiveness of sins will see judgment fall upon not only
this nation, but the entire world for that matter and the notion that Branham’s
vision of America’s destruction might take place before the rapture poses some
potential eschatological problems as if that were to occur, the coming kingdom
out of which the Anti-Christ will arise would have to be either re-configured
or the land that used to be America would have to be re-colonized. Either way, each and every one of those
foretold ten kings and seven heads that represent that coming kingdom (Dan. 7:7-8,
19-26, Rev. 13) has to have some respective region to rule over and with
America gone as a nation, that could pose a potential obstacle to that end but
prophecy does not require that America or any given nation be destroyed in
order to be fulfilled, but neither does it require America to exist either but
either way, the prophecies of scripture will be inevitably be fulfilled as
foretold.
But if there is
anything preventing the fulfillment of Branham’s vision, at least before catching
up of the Church into Heaven, it will only be because that there are still enough
people in America who love and fear the Lord, but that number decreases with
each passing generation and there will be a generation that will see the
judgment of God come down not only upon America but upon all the nations of the
world for that matter and the only way America will ever be able to escape
judgment, no matter who our next President ends up being and no matter who
controls the legislature is if the nation at large will turn back to God in
sincere humble repentance because what invites the judgment of God is when the
evil of a nation and the world reaches a certain measure to where there is no
other remedy except judgment and if there is anything for which America is to
be judged it would be for excluding him from our lives, homes, academic
institutions, media, private sector, entertainment industry, and ultimately our
civic institutions and with that comes a rejection of His moral standards which
has led to a rise in promiscuity when sexual intimacy should be confined to the
marriage bed and within the covenant of marriage, an acceptance, affirmation,
and celebration of perversion instead of that which is pure and holy, a rampant
disregard for promises and vows made, an increase in selfishness and betrayal,
the decrease in love for one’s fellowman, and an increase in hatred for one
another. There also comes an increased
disrespect and disregard for the rule of law and the sanctity of innocent life,
a rise in corporate greed and government corruption, dishonesty within the
media, deceit within the halls of academia, unstable and broken homes and
families, and people increasingly placing their faith in things that will
eventually fail them at the most critical conjunctures in life rather than
placing their faith in God and the rise of wickedness and immorality is not
just amongst the unbelieving, but it has also invaded the body of Christ
amongst whom the depravity, sins, evil, and immorality of the wicked must not
so be named or found and yet is and yet the Church, which is supposed to be the
spiritual and moral conscience of the nation, instead of condemning that which
is evil and wicked in the eyes of our Lord and instead of holding accountable
those among its members who do those things displeasing to the God who made us,
tolerates, affirms, and even celebrates those things that they need to be
preaching against and calling men away from and instead of preaching against
falsehoods and those things contrary to the pure doctrine that was first
delivered to the Church by the inspired Word of God, they either remain silent and
complicit or they are preachers and propagators of false doctrines themselves.
Instead of keeping
themselves conformed to the mind of Christ, (Rom. 12:2) many within the Church
have become much like the world to whom we are supposed to be a light on behalf
of Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven and instead of converting the lost to our
faith and the values imparted to us by God, many professing followers of Christ
are adopting the ways of this present world and rejecting the standards of God
and instead of conforming themselves to the image of God, they attempt to
conform God to their image.
They fear man
above God when they should be fearing God more than man. (Mt. 10:28)
They are consumed
with storing up treasures on earth when they should be consumed with storing up
treasures in Heaven. (Mt. 6:20)
They are placing
their faith and hopes in the things of this present world when they should be
placing their faith in God who is able to meet every need.
They have become
lazy in their service to the Kingdom when they should be diligently going about
the business of our Creator.
They have become
complacent when they should be vigilant in the preservation of sound doctrine
When faced with
challenging arguments and questions to the faith, they are ill-prepared to give
an answer for the faith they profess to hold to (1 Pet. 3:15) and to earnestly
contend for it (Jude 3) and many of our Pastors, clergy, religious leaders and
members of any degree of influence within the body of Christ are especially
guilty of neglecting and dismissing this important duty.
They neglect the
study of the scriptures when they should be reading and studying as often as
possible and as diligently as they can (2 Tim. 2:15)
No longer do many
within the Church treat the Bible by which the Gospel of salvation is given as
being the timeless inerrant and inspired Word of God that it is (2 Tim. 3:16)
nor do they count it sufficient for all things pertaining to this present life
as it was meant to be but instead insist on relying on other thing in addition thereto
and often times, those things end up being contrary to the teaching of
scripture, or the scriptures, or at least some portions of them, will be
treated as outdated and irrelevant to this present generation, and when
confronted with an intellectual or philosophical challenge to our faith,
instead of seeking out God for wisdom, as we are admonished to do, (Prov. 3:5,
Jas. 1:5) they may attempt to reconcile and harmonize scripture with doctrines,
creeds, and philosophies that stand in opposition to their faith and in some
cases, are left questioning what they have professed to believe in and even
abandon the faith altogether.
And like the
unbelievers, professing Christians will even rally behind a figure of influence
and place more trust and hope in that figure than they actually should
forgetting that the figures of influence and authority that are raised up are
but instruments and servants of the living God just as they are and that it is
in the incorruptible everlasting God in whom they should placing all of their
hopes and trust.
Accountability is
largely absent from the Church and as a result sin, corruption, false doctrine,
and heresy infest the body of Christ and discredit our testimony the work that
Christ has done in our lives. There have
even been acts of wickedness committed within the Church that should never have
been named or found within the body of Christ to begin with.
We can blame bad
government policies all we want, and granted, bad government policies are a major
part of the problem, but they are but the result of a cause much more
fundamental and the root cause is a spiritual and moral one and once that is
addressed, the rest will fall into place and what needs to be done is that we
must first and foremost earnestly seek the Kingdom of Heaven (Mt. 6:33) and
when we do, the rest of our concerns will in time be addressed and in ways far
more sufficient than we could possibly think or dream of.
One need only do a
thorough study of the writing of the founders of our nation to see how great an
emphasis they placed upon the spiritual and moral state of the nation and how
they regarded the spiritual and moral condition of society to be of vital
importance and how all things are affected thereby. Even visitors to the US during America’s
early years came to understand that as well; one notable foreign dignitary by
the name of Alexis De Tocqueville, best known for his two-volume work, Democracy
in America, is one such example of a visitor who understood the vital role
that religion, Christianity in particular, played in society [19] and that it was
the source of America’s greatness [20]
It should then be
no coincidence that when there is a spiritual and moral decline in a society,
there will also be a decline in its greatness as well and not only will there
be a decline in its greatness, but, if the spiritual and moral decline
continues, that society will face eventual elimination in some form or
fashion. The scriptures clearly spell
out why the earth was once destroyed by a massive flood, why cities like Sodom
and Gomorrah were destroyed, why civilizations and peoples such as the
Amorites, Canaanites, Jebusites, Hittites, Amalekites, and Philistines no
longer exist, why empires such as Egypt, Syria, Assyria, and Babylon eventually
fell, and why the Israelites faced periods of chastisement and exile and if
there is a reason for the decline and fall of the aforementioned nations and
empires, then there is also a reason for why peoples such as the Mayans,
Aztecs, and Incas are no more. There are
also reasons for why the Persian empire fell to the Greeks, why the Grecian
empire was supplanted by the Roman empire, why the Roman empire eventually fell,
why once great nations such as Spain and Britain became greatly diminished. The rise and fall of nations do not simply
happen by chance. There are always factors at work that contribute to greatness
as well as decline and eventual destruction.
Therefore, it is
vitally important to consider why our own nation is in decline and facing more
dangers, perils, and threats from both without and within than it ever has
before. Through the prophet Jeremiah,
God makes this declaration concerning nations:
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and
concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that
nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of
the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what instant I shall
speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
If it do evil in my sight that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the
good wherewith I said I would benefit them. (Jer. 18:7-10)
Will we as a
nation turn away from the increasing evil and back to the God upon whose laws,
principles, doctrines, precepts, and counsel this nation was founded and built
upon and will we once again submit to His moral laws and standards as the
nation had once done before and thereby escape the judgment and destruction
that we might otherwise face? Or are we
going to persist in pursuing and embracing every kind of evil that there is and
could be unto our own destruction?
If we are to
escape judgment, then the return to God is not going to start within our government,
or in our entertainment industry, private and corporate sectors, any media
outlet, or in the halls of academia. It
isn’t even going to begin with any prolific writer, influential Pastor, scholarly
academic, well-known entertainer, a dynamic political figure, or any household
name. It must begin within people like
you and me but it can’t stop with you and me, the call to repentance then needs
to be preached to others in hopes that they too may come to repentance but in
order for there to be any hope of anyone persuaded to repentance, they first
have to see their need for it but in order one to see their need for repentance
is when they take the time to examine themselves before God by the study of His
laws and with the understanding that it will not be just their actions and even
the words they speak that will be taken into account but also their thoughts,
motives, and attitude of the heart and when this is done, it is not only a
humbling experience as they find that they have indeed fallen short of God’s
moral standard of perfection, but it can also be a most terrifying experience knowing
full well that unless there is forgiveness of sins and redemption, they have
nothing to look forward to but an eternity of an everlasting an unrelenting torment
beyond imagination or comprehension as they will be shut out of the Kingdom of
God and forever separated from His presence, His love, His mercy, and goodness
and it is only at that point that they will come to understand why it is that they
need a Savior to do for them what they cannot do for themselves and that is providing
redemption on their behalf and it is only at that point that they might be
persuaded to call upon the name of that Savior for the forgiveness of sins
placing their trust only in Him alone for the salvation of their soul.
It may be easy
enough to tell people that they are sinners in need of a Savior, but what the
lost whom we seek to reach must also understand, even those who may seem
upright at heart, is why they are sinners and what it is that causes them to
fall short of moral perfection and as for anyone out there who has read my
blogposts, you’ve seen how I routinely explain that by going back to the
beginning and there is a reason for that because in order for people to see their
need for redemption, they have to not only understand that they are lost and in
danger of eternal damnation, they must also understand what it is that has
caused them to become lost to begin with and why and once they understand that,
only then to begin to understand that redemption begins, not from without but
from within and once the redemption of the soul takes place, the rest will
eventually follow because world as we know it in its present condition was not
how God initially intended it to be. The
world when He created was much different.
There was no death, no evil, no grief, no sorrow, no pain, no misery, and
no suffering of any sort; just peace, contentment, love, and joy and a perfect
harmony between God, man, and nature.
When God had
created man, nothing was withheld from him except for one thing and that was
the fruit of a certain tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
having been warned that in the day that they ate the fruit thereof, they would surely
die. (Gen. 2:16-17, 3:3)
A choice was set
before mankind not just in the form of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, but also in the form of the tree of life (Gen. 2:9) which would have
enabled mankind to live forever; (Gen. 3:22) a choice between life and
death. But sadly, Adam the first man,
and Eve the first woman who was Adam’s wife, did not heed the warning but ate
of that forbidden fruit and it was in that day that sin entered into them which,
as a consequence, brought upon them the sentence of death (Gen. 3:19) and eventually,
they did die but that sentence of death did not stop with them. the sin which entered into them and brought
about their eventual deaths, was also passed down to all of mankind for all of
us are descendants of that first man and that first woman and because we are
their descendants, we have also inherited the sin that entered into them (Rom.
5:12) and because of that sin which we have inherited, we all sin in some form
or fashion and as a consequence we all die for as it is written, the wages of
sin is death (Rom. 6:23) but sin is not merely confined to outward behavior or
performance or even the words we speak, but it is rather the inherent inward
corruption of our very nature defiling our thoughts, hardening and darkening
our hearts, and corrupting our very motives which is why it is written that we
are not defiled from that which comes from without, but that which comes from
within (Mt. 15:11, 17-20) and which is why it is written that all have sinned
and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23) which demands of us nothing
less than moral perfection and not just in our outward acts but also in our
inward as well which is why it is impossible by our own efforts and our own
goodness to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, for sin taints, corrupts,
defiles, twists, and distorts more than we can comprehend and the effects of
sin are not merely confined to mankind, but all of creation is subjected to a
curse because of sin which is why it is written that the entire creation groans
and travails in pain to this day. (Rom. 8:19-22) and worst of all, because we
are born into sin, we are also born estranged from our Creator for that which
is in sin cannot be allowed into His presence or into His Kingdom that which is
sinful lest Heaven itself be defiled just as the earth has been defiled and a
day is coming when sin will reach its full measure and will have to face
eventual judgment and that includes all who remain in their sin and they who
remain in their sins have nothing to look forward to but a terrifying and
everlasting punishment in the never-ending torments and darkness of Hell but
there is good news. And the good news
is, is that though the Lord God Almighty be holy and perfect and though He be a
God who must, in His holiness, goodness, and righteousness, eventually punish
all evil and all wickedness, He is also a God of unmeasurable love and mercy
who is not willing that any should perish in their sins and face eternal
damnation, but that all would come to repentance, and therefore has done for us
what we could never do for ourselves in that He, in His graciousness has
purchased redemption on our behalf in Christ Jesus, His only begotten Son, (Jn.
3:16) who came to us in the flesh, (Jn. 1:14) and being without any sin (2 Cor.
5:21, Heb. 4:15) was made that perfect sacrifice (Heb. 7:26-27) that was needed
to take away the sins of the world and because of His perfect goodness, He was
able to offer Himself up on our behalf to satisfy the demanded penalty for all
sin and granting mercy and grace through the shedding of His blood on the cross
and after having died, rose again from the dead three days later that we might
be justified in Him (Rom. 4:25) if we will but call upon His name so that we
might be saved from what would otherwise be a terrifying everlasting punishment
if we will but call upon His name (Rom. 10:9, 13) and believe in our hearts
that God raised Him from the dead (Rom. 10:9) for it is by calling upon His
name in sincere repentance that salvation is granted and our souls made clean
from sin thereby liberating us from the threat of eternal damnation and with
that cleansing comes a new spiritual transformation (2 Cor. 5:17) that causes
us to no longer desire to follow after selfish and worldly pursuits but after
those things that pertain to the Kingdom of Heaven,
to no longer take
pleasure in those things that are evil and displeasing in the sight of the
Lord, but in that which is good, right, and pleasing in His sight,
to no longer
desire to walk in the lies of this present world, but only in the truth that
comes from Christ Almighty, no longer placing our hopes in the things of this
present world, but looking forward to that new and better world to come, (Rev.
21-22)
to no longer rely
on worldly resources, men, or even our own power, abilities, skills, and wisdom
for our needs and provision but upon God who is able to meet all of our needs, (Mt.
6:33) recognizing that the resources of this world and even the people He
brings into our lives are but instruments and vessels through which God meets
our needs and that the skills, power, knowledge, and wisdom by which we might
acquire our provision are provided and instilled in us by God,
to no longer fear
what men can do to us, but rather fearing the God before whom we will have to
one day give an account for how we lived our lives, (Mt. 10:28)
to no longer look
to corruptible institutions within our society for direction and order in our
lives but to God who, by His written Word has given us laws and precepts to be
applied to our lives and which serve to produce and maintain an ordered life, and
who, by His Holy Spirit which comes to dwell within us upon repentance,
establishes in our lives a course and direction in our lives to pursue for His
glory,
to no longer seek
our own glory but the glory of God,
to no longer rally
behind corruptible men, but instead behind the incorruptible God in Heaven
bearing in mind that those men and women God raises up for our edification are
but instruments and servants of His for that respective purpose to which He has
called them,
to no longer seek
to align ourselves with the things of darkness but only with the things of the
light,
to no longer trust
in the wisdom of the world but only on the wisdom and knowledge that comes from
above, (Jas. 1:5) nor depend on corruptible earthly authorities to swiftly
administer justice, but only in the power of God to deliver us from evil.
And it is this new
inward transformation that reconciles us to our Creator (2 Cor. 5:18) from whom
we had once been estranged and just as our souls are cleansed from sin and our
spirits regenerated in Christ Jesus thereby liberating us from the eternal tormenting
punishment that must come upon all who remain in their sins and it is this very
change, if received by enough people, that potentially can bring about a change
for the better in entire households in the manner of how they are run and
maintained, and from there, the nature and condition of entire neighborhoods,
communities, states/provinces, and entire nations, which then will have an
impact and an affect upon the course of the culture and society; how education
is taught, how businesses and corporations are operated, how news is reported,
the quality and nature of entertainment that is produced, and finally how politics
and civic governance are conducted.
But if we are to ever
have any hope of seeing that much desired Great Awakening, we who are in Christ,
have to do more than just pray for it to happen; we have to be actively about
the business of the God who made us, which is the affairs pertaining to the
Kingdom of Heaven but in order for us to be effective representatives of the
Kingdom of God, there is a much needed reformation that needs to take place
within the Church and within all professing followers of Christ because before
that Great Awakening can ever affect the culture beyond the four walls of the
Church building and beyond the regular gatherings of the saints, it has to
first take place within the Church and it must be a Great Awakening and
reformation that returns the Church and all professing followers of the Lord to
the following:
The authority of
scripture by which the message and doctrine of our faith is delivered and full
reliance thereupon.
Reliance upon the
sufficiency of scripture.
A commitment to a
regular reading and study of scripture and not just during the weekly church
services or Bible studies, but making time for it every day as often as it is
possible if even only for just a few minutes a day.
Taking time to talk
to God in prayer daily and not just during worship service; and again, even if
only for a few minutes.
Meeting regularly
with like-minded followers of Christ for the worship of Christ and for the study
of and instruction in His Word.
Active involvement
in a fellowship of believers.
Vigilantly upholding
and applying the teachings, instruction, and doctrines of scripture within each
respective fellowship which also includes holding members accountable for their
behavior, way of living, conduct, and what they preach and propagate.
Dedicating
ourselves to the service of Christ in accordance to each respective calling
given to each and every one of us.
Being always
willing and ready to call the lost to repentance whenever opportunity arises
regardless of what response may be received.
Being prepared to
give an answer for the faith and the hope that is within us and to earnestly
contend for the faith as often as required of us.
Resolving to be
obedient to God above man and to fear Him above man, and to stand up for righteousness
and against the things of wickedness and all things displeasing to God, knowing
that it is before Him that all men will have to stand and give an account for
all that has been said and done in this life and that every thought, motive,
and attitude of the heart will also be taken into account no matter what may be
done to us or what we might be threatened with on account of the name of Christ,
trusting that the reward that await us will outweigh any sacrifice we may be
called and challenged to make on behalf of His name.
When that
reformation happens, then that Great Awakening that revives re-vitalizes, and
re-energizes the Church as a whole for Christ and the things pertaining to God,
will then begin to impact the unchurched and unregenerated world and when that
happens, we will begin to see God invited back into our schools and included in
our public activities. We may then see
prayer and Bible reading brought back into the classroom.
We will no longer
fear lawsuits filed against public displays of manger scenes at Christmas time
nor of crosses designed to commemorate the life and sacrifice of a fallen soldier. Churches and Christian owned businesses will
no longer be told to surrender their values and affirm that which they know to
be evil in the sight of God and no longer will we see tax-payer funded money used
to empower wickedness.
That which is evil
will no longer be called a disorder but instead will be called out for what it
is and we will stop “normalizing” bad behavior and once again begin embracing foundational
moral bedrock truths. No longer will the
minds of children and young adults be poisoned against their nation nor against
the very truths and principles upon which this nation was founded and no longer
will teachers and school officials seek to undermine parental influence and
authority in the home but rather parental influence and authority over their
children will once again be respected. Integrity
will once again be restored to the halls of academia and our institutions of
education and learning. Honesty will
once again return to how news is reported.
The private sector at every level and within every branch will begin to
have regard for the welfare of their employees and no longer exploit them, employees
will be the best that they can be for their employers by putting in as honest
of a day’s work as they possibly can, and businesses and corporations will conduct
honest dealings with their consumers and no longer cheat nor defraud them. The entertainment industry will once again
begin to produce entertainment in every branch, genre, and department that no
longer mocks, ridicules, nor vilifies that which is godly and wholesome but
will instead affirm and celebrate that which is good, right, pure, holy, sacred,
and honorable. And finally, our civic
institutions will begin to look not after their own interests but after the general
welfare and interests of the public.
It is such a Great
Awakening that will save the country from the judgment that might otherwise come
upon it for once again, God has promised, that “If that nation, against whom I
have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought
to do unto them.” (Jer. 18:8)
In other words,
judgment need not ever have to be. All
it takes for any nation to escape judgment and eventual destruction is if it
call upon the Lord God Almighty for the forgiveness of sins and turns away from
the wicked ways that it had embraced.
Because the Lord God
is a God of love and mercy, He does not take pleasure in punishment and
judgment and will bear patiently with persons, peoples, nations, and even
empires persuading as many as can and will be persuaded to repentance, but when
the wickedness and sin of any nation, kingdom, empire, community, or people has
reached a certain measure, judgment will come and it must come when all other
remedies are exhausted because God cannot nor will not allow evil to prevail
forever. In His Holiness and
righteousness, God must eventually eliminate evil from off the face of the
earth and that includes the elimination of all who remain in their sins and in
an unrepentant state.
If you have not
done so already and want to be sure that you will be able to escape the
judgment that is inevitably to come upon the face of the earth and want to be
assured that when life on earth ends that you will not be shut out of the
Kingdom of Heaven and cast into an eternity of unrelenting torment, but will be
admitted into the Kingdom of God, then I urge you reader to, in sincere faith,
and with a repentant heart, call upon the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of sins. It is but a sincere
prayer of repentance away:
"Lord Jesus I
need you.
I realize that I
am a sinner
who has fallen
short of the glory of God
and that my
goodness falls short
of your standard
of Moral perfection.
Please forgive me
of all of my sins.
Come into my heart
and into my life
to be the Savior
and Lord of my life.
Make me into the
servant and follower
that you want me
to be.
In your name Lord
Jesus, I pray.
Amen."
Know that God is
not concerned with the words that you use to call upon Him forgiveness, but
with the attitude of your heart and if you have, with all sincerity, have asked
Christ to forgive you of your sins, placing your trust in Him only for your
salvation and in nothing else, then your sins are forgiven and your place in
Heaven is certain.
