It is meet to be subiect unto God,
and that a man that is mortal, should not proudly think of himself, as if he
were God.
----Antiochus Epiphanes shortly
before his death, 2 Maccabees 9:12

[This is one of the last figures from
whom anyone would expect to hear this from as Antiochus Epiphanes is looked
upon as type of anti-Christ, but after having been struck with a sudden and
devastating illness, Antiochus Epiphanes acknowledged that the illness that
befell him was an act of God done upon him for the profaning of the holy Temple
in Jerusalem and for the intense persecution he carried about against the Jews
upon whom he intended to impose Greek culture, customs, and religion. More about this can be found 1 and 2 Maccabees]
