A figure by the name of Stan Johnson
shared some alleged prophecies foretelling the downfall of America by way of
economic collapse, internal conflict, and finally foreign attack unless
significant changes are made. [1]
Granted that a significant and good
change was made politically with the re-election of Donald Trump for a second
Presidential term and from which we will all stand to potentially benefit, that
is still not enough to save our nation from possible judgment or chastening. There has to be a spiritual change and that
has yet to be seen on a significant scale if we are to be delivered from both
external and internal threats foretold but if we persist in doing the things
that are evil in the sight of the Lord God who made us and upon whose
principles and precepts this very nation was founded and looking to other
things for our needs instead of Him.
We still remain in danger of internal
conflict. Despite our President’s best
efforts to revive our economy, we still face economic uncertainty. Despite his best efforts to strengthen our
national defenses and security and rid our land of dangerous migrants, we still
face hostilities from without and which have infiltrated our society at
virtually every level. And in spite of
his best efforts to rid our federal government of moral depravity and to bring
a reverence to God back into our government, spiritual darkness and moral
depravity still abound in our society.
Donald Trump, even if he wanted to,
cannot save our nation from judgment if our sin has reached a measure for which
there is no other remedy but judgment.
We the people are the only ones who can do that and that is by turning
back to the God who made us upon whose precepts and principles this nation was
founded and turning away from the things wicked and evil in His sight and if we
do so, we might very well prolong the days of our nation and may not have to
witness or experience the foretold catastrophic events Mr. Johnson has shared
with us.
Furthermore, God also gives this
promise to every nation that turns away from their evil to Him:
At what instant I shall speak
concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down,
and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from
their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what instant I shall speak concerning
a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; If it do evil in
my sight that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good wherewith I
said I would benefit them. (Jer. 18:7-10)
But even if all these things foretold
were to come to pass, that does not necessarily mean that a full end would be
made of America. As I was reading the
piece, one of the cited prophets claims that America, while contending with
internal conflict, would be defeated by foreign enemies from without in one day
and in one hour, which sounds like a passage taken from the book of Revelation
concerning the final destruction of the city of Babylon (Rev. 18) It is as if this particular prophet believed
America to be the Babylon foretold in the book of Revelation, but this is
eschatologically and contextually inaccurate for several reasons. First of all, the foretold Babylon is
destined to be completely destroyed in an act of divine judgment, never to be
rebuilt or inhabited again, but if many or all of America’s major cities were
to be suddenly destroyed, that would not render America uninhabitable and there
would still be enough people in her citizenry to rebuild the nation albeit the
nation would never be what it has been in its power or global influence but I
would advise anyone reading this that if you are living in a major city and
feel in your heart and spirit that you should leave and resettle elsewhere,
then I would strongly advise you to leave and resettle elsewhere for before a
coming judgment, God mercifully warns the righteous to leave the places that
are about to face judgment and destruction lest they themselves also be
consumed alongside the wicked and unbelieving.
After all, God did instruct Noah to build an Ark to save himself, his
family, and all the animals that God brought to Him before destroying the world
with a flood (Gen. 6-8), He did send his angels to deliver Lot and his family
from Sodom and Gomorrah before those cities were destroyed (Gen. 19:1-26) and
before the final destruction of Babylon, God will warn any of His saints to
flee that wicked city so that they are not destroyed with it (Rev. 18:4) and
before that terrible time of judgment upon the earth, Christ has also issued a
promise to the repentant that they will be kept from that foretold hour of
testing and tribulation that is to come upon the earth for the wickedness
therein (Rev. 3:10) for the Lord God Almighty has not appointed those who
sincerely worship and serve Him to wrath (1 Thess. 5:9)
It must also be made clear that the
destruction of a nation or country in and of itself will not bring about the
rise of the coming Anti-Christ as the featured item supposes, for the scripture
makes very clear that he will not be revealed until He that holds him back from
assuming power is taken out of the way and He that hinders is not confined to
the use of any particular nation for doing so for He has used many devices and
means to hold back, whom that scripture calls that man of lawlessness who will
seek to make himself God over the entire world (2 Thess. 2:3-12) even before
America even existed and if we should see America as we know it gone, He will
continue to hold back the coming Anti-Christ by other means for as long as He
wills to do so but there will come a day when the darkness and wickedness of
this present world will reach a measure at which point, that restraining power
will be taken out of the way and that man of lawlessness who is called the
Anti-Christ will be revealed and will assume power, and the only encouraging
news about that is that his reign will be a short-lived one and when it is
over, it will also be the end of this present world system as we know it for in
that day, his kingdom will be replaced by another kingdom, the Kingdom of the
Lord God who made Heaven and earth and all that is in them (Rev. 21-22) and in
that Kingdom, there will be nothing evil in it and there will not be anything
in it that causes pain, misery, or suffering of any kind because there will be
no sin nor death in it as there is in this present world. It will be as it was intended from the
beginning before sin entered into the world but only those who have turned away
from their sins will get to be a part of this new and better world to come for
the establishment of the new and better world to come requires the elimination
of this present world along with all the evil in it and that includes the elimination
of all who remain in their sins, lest the Kingdom of God become defiled by sin
just as the earth itself became defiled by sin the very day that the first man
Adam and the first woman Eve did the one thing that they were warned not to do
and that was the eating of a fruit from a certain tree called the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, having been warned of God that in the day that they
ate of that fruit, they would surely die (Gen. 2:16-17, 3:3) but before they
had eaten of that forbidden fruit, there had been nothing but life, light,
peace, contentment, and harmony in the earth and a perfect harmony between God,
man, and nature, and an unhindered, uninterrupted fellowship between God and
man, but that all ended when Adam and Eve ate of that forbidden fruit and it was
in that day that sin had entered into them and when sin had entered into them,
the sentence of death of which they were warned fell upon them (Gen. 3:19) and
to which they eventually succumbed but the sentence of death did not stop
there. It was then passed down to all of
us because we are descended from them and in being descended from them, we have
also inherited that inward corruption in ourselves that the Bible calls sin
(Rom. 5:12) which is why we all sins and as a consequence, we all die because
the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23).
Sin is not merely defined by our
actions, behavior, or even by what we say, but it is defined as the inward corruption
of our very nature defiling also our very thoughts, darkening and hardening our
hearts, and corrupting our very motives which is why our Lord Jesus said that
is not by the things from without that we are defiled but by that which is from
within (Mt. 15:11, 17-20) and it is the very reason why none can ever attain
the favor of God by their own merit because even our own goodness is tainted by
our inherently corrupt nature, causing us to fall short of the glory of God due
to sin (Rom. 3:23) but the effects of sin are not confined to just man, but all
of creation as it has been brought under a curse due to sin which is why it is
written that the entire creation groans and travails in pain to this day (Rom.
8:19-22) which is why God cannot allow they in whom sin dwells into His Kingdom
which is without sin and though it seem like a hopeless situation for us, the
Lord God Almighty is not willing that any should perish but that all come to
repentance (2 Pet. 3:9) and be delivered from what would otherwise be an unrelenting
torment for all eternity in the everlasting fires and darkness of Hell which is
the place where all things evil and sinful must go for they have no place in
the Kingdom of God, but because the Lord God who made us is a God of love and
mercy and desires reconciliation with every soul, He has provided redemption on
our behalf through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom there is no sin (2
Cor. 5:21, Heb. 4:15) who came into this world to offer Himself as that perfect
and untainted sacrifice to take away our sin which He did through His death
upon the cross on which He was crucified and after having purchased our
redemption through the shedding of His blood, was raised again from the dead so
that we would, by our faith in Him, be justified in Him (Rom. 4:25) so that
anyone placing full trust in Him alone for the forgiveness of sin and salvation
will not have to face eternal damnation, but be made a citizen of the Kingdom
of Heaven and granted eternal life and it is in calling upon Him for the
forgiveness of sins and believing that God raised Him from the dead that we are
saved from an otherwise terrible everlasting judgment (Rom. 10:9, 13) and it is
by Him are we reconciled to the Father from whom we had once been estranged (2
Cor. 5:18) and inwardly transformed and made anew (2 Cor. 5:17) and it is this
inward cleansing of the soul and this regeneration which cause all who are
willing to call upon Christ for it, submit to it, and embrace it to no longer
desire to follow after selfish and worldly pursuits but after those things that
pertain to the Kingdom of Heaven, (Mt. 6:33)
to no longer take pleasure in those
things that are evil and displeasing in the sight of the Lord, but in that
which is good, right, and pleasing in His sight,
to no longer desire to walk in the
lies of this present world, but only in the truth that comes from Christ
Almighty, (Jn. 14:6) no longer placing our hopes in the things of this present
world, but looking forward to that new and better world to come, (Rev. 21-22)
to no longer rely on worldly
resources, men, or even our own power, abilities, skills, and wisdom for our
needs and provision but upon God who is able to meet all of our needs, (Mt.
6:25-33) recognizing that the resources of this world and even the people He
brings into our lives are but instruments and vessels through which God meets
our needs and that the skills, power, knowledge, and wisdom by which we might
acquire our provision are provided and instilled in us by God,
to no longer fear what men can do to
us, but rather fearing the God before whom we will have to one day give an
account for how we lived our lives, (Mt. 10:28)
to no longer look to corruptible
institutions within our society for direction and order in our lives but to God
who, by His written Word has given us laws and precepts to be applied to our
lives and which serve to produce and maintain an ordered life, and who, by His
Holy Spirit which comes to dwell within us upon repentance, establishes in our
lives a course and direction in our lives to pursue for His glory,
to no longer seek our own glory but
the glory of God,
to no longer rally behind corruptible
men, but instead behind the incorruptible God in Heaven bearing in mind that
those men and women God raises up for our edification are but instruments and
servants of His for that respective purpose to which He has called them,
to no longer seek to align ourselves
with the things of darkness but only with the things of the light,
to no longer trust in the wisdom of
the world but only on the wisdom and knowledge that comes from above, nor
depend on corruptible earthly authorities to swiftly administer justice, but
only in the power of God to deliver us from evil.
And just as we are made spiritually
alive in Christ, so also we will one day be delivered from bodily death itself
when our present bodies are changed from that which was born into corruption
into that which is without corruption (1 Cor. 15:51-55, 1 Thess. 4:13-18) but
not only will we also see our bodies redeemed from death, just as our souls
have been redeemed from eternal damnation, we will also witness creation itself
being delivered from the curse of sin when it is made anew and in that new
creation, there will be no sin, no evil, no darkness, nor any curse. There will be no death, no decay, nor any
pain, nor any hardship, no oppression, no misery, no cruelty, no despair, or
any grief for all of these things will have passed away with the old corrupted
creation but instead, there will only be life, light, happiness, peace, and
harmony before the Lord God Almighty.
But until that day arrives, we must
do all that we can to minimize the suffering, evil, darkness and sin in this
world for so long as we must be in it so that when our Lord and Savior returns
for us He may be pleased with what we did for His Kingdom on this earth and if
we will be but willing to serve our Lord and Savior in whatever capacity that
He has called each and every one of us to and the more of us who are willing to
do so, then perhaps the better able we will be in delaying and even diminishing
any judgment or catastrophe that may befall our nation but whether or not our
nation is to face judgment or how severe that chastisement or judgment may be
if we should ever see our nation judged in our day really depends on whether or
not we are willing to turn to God with all of our hearts, minds, and souls.
For those of you who fear judgment
and have not done so already, there is a God in Heaven who is able to deliver us
from judgment not only in this life but in the life to come as well if we will
but willing to turn away from the very sins by which we are condemned and call
upon in faith the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of
sins. It is but a simple sincere prayer
of repentance away:
"Lord Jesus I need you.
I realize that I am a sinner
who has fallen short of the glory of
God
and that my goodness falls short
of your standard of Moral perfection.
Please forgive me of all of my sins.
Come into my heart and into my life
to be the Savior and Lord of my life.
Make me into the servant and follower
that you want me to be.
In your name Lord Jesus, I pray.
Amen."
Know that God is not concerned with
the words that you use to call upon Him forgiveness, but with the attitude of
your heart and if you have, with all sincerity, have asked Christ to forgive
you of your sins, placing your trust in Him only for your salvation and in
nothing else, then your sins are forgiven and your place in Heaven is certain.
