A Question That Most People Would Never Think To Ask

Ken Ham asks a very interesting question: “If you don’t go to church and don’t believe in God, does this mean you are not a religious person?”

And gives a very interesting answer: “the answer is no! Everyone has a worldview, which means everyone has a religion.” [1]

The question he asks is a question with an answer that most people would never think of because when it comes to religion, people generally think of a theistic religion or what they perceive to be a theistic religion whether it be Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, or any number of known faiths involving a deity or higher power, but most would never think that atheism would ever count as being a religion because they deny the existence of a higher power but instead credit unthinking and unplanning processes for the formation of the universe and everything in it and yet when tenets and doctrines of secular humanism are challenged, the theory of evolution in particular, they will aggressively defend it with such fanatical religious fervor and in that religious fervor they have fought and still fight to this day to eliminate the influence of theistic religious faith, and Christianity in particular from the public square and especially from our publicly funded schools and halls of academia and in the place of God and His moral principles have come the most foolish, perverse, sickening, harmful, and dangerous ideologies that do nothing more but destroy lives and souls and bring ruin to entire societies and civilizations by turning that which was founded upon lawful and principled order into that which is filled with moral bankruptcy, lawlessness, and civic corruption and even oppression.

Remove theistic faith from the equation and along with its removal is also the removal for the basis of truth, morality, law and order, and even justice.  Even the concepts of good and evil become meaningless and truth is reduced to subjectivity and relativity instead of being a principle not given to change.

Ken Ham in his tweet describes religion as “a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith” [2] and that certainly would describe those committed to atheism just as much as it would describe those committed to any theistic faith.  It can also describe those committed to any given political movement be it MAGA, Republicanism, Democratism, nationalism. globalism, or any shade or degree of Marxism which includes socialism, fascism, and communism and one thing that Ken Ham has always pointed out is that both theistic and atheistic religion requires a certain amount of faith.

For example, they who follow a theistic faith take on faith that the universe was created by a higher intelligence who is the source of truth, defines what is good and evil, right or wrong, is our moral lawgiver, and before whom we will have to give an account for all that we have done in this life and even for every word we have spoken as well.  They also believe that the final sentence that each person is handed is going to affect as to what the nature of their afterlife will be when they depart this world.

Those who follow an atheistic faith take on faith that they are simply products of time and chance which are unthinking and unplanning, that it is man who determines what is right and what is wrong, what is good and evil, and what is truth and what is a lie, that he is his own moral lawgiver, and that the consequences of ones actions do not extend beyond this present life because as far as they are concerned, if there is no God to whom they must give an account, there are no eternal consequences for what they do as there is no afterlife but that when this present life ends for them, that is the end of all existence because as far as they are concerned, they are just a composite or compilation of chemical and biological reactions instead of souls and spirits inhabiting bodies.

The one thing that theism and atheism have is this:

Neither the theist nor the atheist have ever seen the world come into being and neither can ever replicate or repeat that one time act of creation but what origins philosophy that we do give ourselves over to does have serious ramification for the course of our life and society and even our eternity as well.

If the atheist is right and we are all but products of the unthinking and unplanning processes of time and chance, then all the theist has lost is an illusion and need not fear eternal consequences of living as he or she pleases because there is no eternity.

But if the theist is right and the atheist is wrong, then the atheist stands to lose a lot more than the theist because the ramifications for the atheist are not just confined to this present life, but there are also eternal ramifications as well and what he or she decides to believe in can make the difference between entering into the gate of Heaven and experience an everlasting peace and joy far greater than we can ever experience in this present life or waking up in the fiery torments and darkness of Hell to which there is no end and from which there is no relief.

The atheist can say that the Christian can believe in Heaven or Hell all that they want but that it does not mean that they exist as the atheist only believes in what he or she can engage with his or her physical senses.

But the Christian can say to the atheist that the atheist can deny that there is a Heaven all that they want but it won’t stop anyone from entering through its gates and that they can deny that there is a Hell all they want but it will not stop them from waking up in its tormenting darkness and fire.

But what it all comes down to in the end is not so much about which view of origins the evidence supports but what each person chooses to believe in and give themselves to and why they might persist in giving and devoting themselves to either theism or atheism no matter to which the evidence may lead because it comes down to what lies within the heart and soul of each individual and that has always been the case since the very day that mankind was first created beginning with the first man Adam and the first woman Eve who was Adam’s wife and who are the sole ancestors of all of mankind.  They knew God.  Walked with Him.  And enjoyed an unhindered fellowship with Him.  He had initially given them dominion over the earth and all in it. (Gen 1:26)
He had created the world to be a good and pleasant home for mankind and to be a place of peace, joy, happiness, and contentment; a world in which the death, evil, and suffering that we witness and experience presently did not exist but instead, it was a world filled only with light and life and there was nothing withheld from mankind except for one thing and it was fruit from a certain tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil having been warned of God that in the day that they ate thereof, they would surely die. (Gen. 2:16-17)

Like the rest of us, Adam and Eve were given a choice between:

Life or death
Good or evil
Light or darkness
Truth or falsehood
Wisdom or foolishness
Holiness or sinfulness
Purity or corruption
Righteousness or unrighteousness
Order or chaos
Liberty or oppression
Angels or demons
God or Satan
Heaven or Hell
Salvation or damnation

But sadly, they failed to heed the warning and ate of that forbidden fruit which had proved consequential beyond anything they could have ever fathomed for in disobeying that one command and warning, Adam and Eve chose death over life.
They chose evil over goodness.
They chose the darkness over the light.
They chose to listen to a lying spirit rather than consult the voice of truth.
They chose foolishness over wisdom.
They chose sin over holiness and corruption instead of purity.
They followed unrighteousness instead of righteousness and chaos instead of order.
They abandoned liberty for oppression, became instruments of Satan instead of God.
Choosing Hell over Heaven and damnation rather than salvation.

They may not have meant to choose all of these things, but in refusing to heed that one command to not eat of that forbidden fruit, they did choose all of those things and not only for themselves but for the rest of us when they believed a lie that came from a seducing spirit who came to them in the form of a serpent and by way of false assurances (Gen. 3:4-5) led them into doing the one thing that they were warned of God not to do and that was the eating of that fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and that seducing spirit responsible in causing that transgression was, before he had turned to evil, a certain angel named Lucifer who had once served at the throne of God as a covering cherub until he became so lifted up in his own pride that he thought he could be equal with God forgetting that he was but a creation of God and as a consequence, he and all who had sided with him were cast from their places in Heaven (Is. 14:11-21, Ezek. 28:12-19) which then began that age-long war between God and Satan and after being cast from his place in Heaven, Satan then took the war to the earth and on the earth, he then accomplished with Adam and Eve what he could not accomplish in Heaven and he did so by way of a lie with which he deceived them into eating of that forbidden fruit by the false promise of better things that would otherwise be withheld from them and the false assurance that they would not die as they had been warned and it was that very lie that made Satan the father of lies (Jn. 8:44) and not only that, it was also the lie that made him into a murderer (v. 44) because when Adam and Eve had eaten of that forbidden fruit, that was the day that sin had entered into them (Gen. 3:19) and when sin had entered into them, they then became subjugated to death and not only they themselves but the rest of mankind as well because the sin that entered into Adm and Eve was then passed down to mankind which is the reason why we are all inherently sinful and inwardly corrupt by nature since we are all descended from them (Rom. 5:12) and it is this inward corruption of our nature that causes us to sin and sin is the reason why we all die, for as it is written, the wages of sin is death, (Rom. 6:23) which makes Satan not only a murderer of Adam and Eve, but the murderer of every person born into this world by way of the sin that entered into Adam and Eve through the transgression of the eating of the forbidden fruit and was then passed down to all of their children and descendants, which we all are, but the consequences of sin did not stop with mankind but extended to all of creation as well, for as it is written that the entire creation groans and travails in pain to this day (Rom. 8:19-22) which is the reason for the death, suffering, evil, darkness, and misery which abound which also makes Satan not only a liar and murderer, but also a destroyer (Jn. 10:10) and not only is he a destroyer, but also a thief (v. 10) because in causing Adam and Eve to commit the transgression that brought sin and death into the world, he then was able to justify claiming lordship over the nations and kingdoms of the world (Mt. 4:8-9, Lk. 4:6-7) thereby diminishing the dominion that was initially given to Adam (Gen. 1:26) which is why he is called the prince of this world (Jn. 12:31, 16:11) and worst of all, the sin that entered into Adam and Eve caused a separation between them and God and has caused us who are born into this present world to be estranged from our Creator and with every lie that has followed the very first lie, Satan continues to keep as many souls as he can estranged from their Creator in order to keep them bound and captive to a spiritual darkness which will eventually bring those who remain in spiritual bondage into an everlasting damnation filled with a torment that never relents for it is not enough for Satan to be a destroyer of the body or even the destroyer of creation, but he also seeks to lead as many souls as he can into everlasting destruction.

By a lie did sin come into the world and death with it.
By a lie did Satan usurp the dominion given to man.
By a lie was creation itself subject to the pain, suffering, misery, evil, and decay that resides in it.

And by every lie to follow after the one told in the garden of Eden does Satan keep as many souls captive as he can and to their very eternal destruction and the lies he uses to lead souls into darkness and eternal damnation are many beyond count and one of those lies that he repeatedly tells and poisons the mind with is the lie and religion of atheism: The lie that there is no God to which we must give an account but that we are all products of an unthinking unplanning random act and that the consequences of our actions and behavior do not extend beyond this present life.  And it is a lie that Satan has used to blind multitudes to the truth by which we are set free from spiritual darkness and sin (Jn. 8:32) and by which we are reconciled to our Creator from whom we had once been estranged (2 Cor. 5:18) and the truth that sets us free is this:

That God is not willing that any should perish in their sins and face eternal damnation, (2 Pet. 3:9) but that all would come to repentance, and therefore has done for us what we could never do for ourselves in that He, in His graciousness has purchased redemption on our behalf in Christ Jesus, His only begotten Son, (Jn. 3:16) who came to us in the flesh, (Jn. 1:14) and being without any sin (2 Cor. 5:21) was made that perfect sacrifice (Heb. 7:26-27) that was needed to take away the sins of the world and because of His perfect goodness, He was able to offer Himself up on our behalf to satisfy the demanded penalty for all sin and granting mercy and grace through the shedding of His blood on the cross and after having died, rose again from the dead three days later that we might be justified in Him (Rom. 4:25) if we will but call upon His name so that we might be saved from what would otherwise be a terrifying everlasting punishment if we will but call upon His name (Rom. 10:9, 13) and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead (Rom. 10:9) for it is by calling upon His name in sincere repentance that salvation is granted and our souls made clean from sin thereby liberating us from the threat of eternal damnation and with that cleansing comes a new spiritual transformation (2 Cor. 5:17) that causes us to no longer desire to follow after selfish and worldly pursuits but after those things that pertain to the Kingdom of Heaven,
to no longer take pleasure in those things that are evil and displeasing in the sight of the Lord, but in that which is good, right, and pleasing in His sight,
to no longer desire to walk in the lies of this present world, but only in the truth that comes from Christ Almighty who is the source of all truth, (Jn. 14:6)
no longer placing our hopes in the things of this present world, but looking forward to that new and better world to come, (Rev. 21-22)
to no longer rely on worldly resources, men, or even our own power, abilities, skills, and wisdom for our needs and provision but upon God who is able to meet all of our needs, recognizing that the resources of this world and even the people He brings into our lives are but instruments and vessels through which God meets our needs and that the skills, power, knowledge, and wisdom by which we might acquire our provision are provided and instilled in us by God, (Mt. 6:25-33)
to no longer fear what men can do to us, but rather fearing the God before whom we will have to one day give an account for how we lived our lives, (Mt. 10:28)
to no longer look to corruptible institutions within our society for direction and order in our lives but to God who, by His written Word has given us laws and precepts to be applied to our lives and which serve to produce and maintain an ordered life, and who, by His Holy Spirit which comes to dwell within us upon repentance, establishes in our lives a course and direction in our lives to pursue for His glory,
to no longer seek our own glory but the glory of God,
to no longer rally behind corruptible men, but instead behind the incorruptible God in Heaven bearing in mind that those men and women God raises up for our edification are but instruments and servants of His for that respective purpose to which He has called them,
to no longer seek to align ourselves with the things of darkness but only with the things of the light,
to no longer trust in the wisdom of the world but only on the wisdom and knowledge that comes from above, (Jas. 1:5) nor depend on corruptible earthly authorities to swiftly administer justice, but only in the power of God to deliver us from evil.

And it is this new inward transformation that reconciles us to our Creator (2 Cor. 5:18) from whom we had once been estranged and just as our souls are cleansed from sin and our spirits regenerated in Christ Jesus thereby liberating us from the eternal tormenting punishment that must come upon all who remain in their sins, so one day we look forward to the liberation of our bodies from death itself when our mortal and corruptible forms are transformed into that which is immortal and incorruptible and from that which is imperfect to that which is perfect (1 Cor. 15:51-55, 1 Thess. 4:13-18) and lastly, creation itself will be delivered from the curse placed upon it because of sin when it is made into a new and better world (Rev. 21-22) and liberated from the hand of our adversary Satan, who presently claims dominion, when he is given his final sentence and cast into an everlasting tormenting fire prepared for him and his followers (Mt. 25:41, Rev. 20:10-15) and in that new world which will be made, there will be no sin, no death, no decay, nor any curse, nor any evil, or violence, suffering, misery, grief, sorrow, mourning, pain, or hardship of any sort for all of these will pass away with this present world.  Instead, there will only be light, life, happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and rest before the Lord God Almighty.

If your eyes have been opened to the truth of the Gospel message, then I urge you reader to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus for the forgiveness of sins.  It is but a sincere prayer of repentance away:

"Lord Jesus I need you.

I realize that I am a sinner
who has fallen short of the glory of God
and that my goodness falls short
of your standard of Moral perfection.

Please forgive me of all of my sins.
Come into my heart and into my life
to be the Savior and Lord of my life.
Make me into the servant and follower
that you want me to be.
In your name Lord Jesus, I pray.

Amen."

Know that God is not concerned with the words that you use to call upon Him forgiveness, but with the attitude of your heart and if you have, with all sincerity, have asked Christ to forgive you of your sins, placing your trust in Him only for your salvation and in nothing else, then your sins are forgiven and your place in Heaven is certain.
