"Can We Live Forever?" An Exposition Of A Question Examined By Ken Ham On X.

What Ken Ham is talking about in his post is not really anything new.

Man has been trying to find ways to increase longevity, slow and even reverse the effects of aging, and has even sought to put an end to death itself and I even wrote a couple of blogposts on the subject myself and why it is impossible for man to beat death, why we have death, and what it will take to end it. [2-3]

Even if we could find ways to become immune to most conventional means of death, we still will never be able to escape accountability before our Maker.

After all, angelic beings and other spiritual entities cannot die as we do but they too will one day have to give an account before God for all that they have done just as mankind will and accountability before God is not anything that anyone is going to be able to escape no matter what it is that they might do and no matter how vehemently they might deny it because a day is coming when this present age will come to an end and this world as we know it will be no more and it will be in that day that all will either be given their final reward and honor or handed their final sentence by their Creator all depending on everything said and done in this life; even the very nature of their thoughts, motives, and attitudes will be called to account just as their outward actions and behavior and the words that have come out of their mouths will be taken into account.

There is only one way to escape the judgment that is to come upon the world and there is only one way to be saved from condemnation and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior by whose death and shed blood our redemption was purchased and who then afterward was raised again from the dead that we who place our faith and trust in Him for the forgiveness of sins and call upon His name in sincere repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be made justified in Him before God the Father (Rom. 4:25) so that we will not perish in eternal damnation, but so that we may have life everlasting in Christ Jesus because it is He who will put an eventual end to all death and it is only He who is able to save from the condemnation that would otherwise rest upon us for it is only Christ Jesus who is able to take off of us that by which we are condemned and what condemns us before God is an inherent and inwardly corrupt nature that the Bible calls sin which is defined not merely by our actions, behavior, and what comes out of our mouths but it is the condition of our very nature that influences our very thoughts, motives, and attitudes which in turn influence our behavior and even the things that we say but it is not a condition with which we were created; we were initially created sinless and pure and it was intended that we should live forever and never meant to die, so the question is, why do we even die in the first place if death was never meant to be a part of God’s initial creation but rather death came upon mankind and the entire creation as a consequence from a fateful transgression committed by the first man Adam and the first woman Eve when they had eaten of a fruit forbidden to them from a certain tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, having been warned of God that in the day that they ate thereof, they would surely die (Gen. 2:16-17, 3:3) and when they disobeyed that prohibition, sin entered into them and with sin came upon them the sentence of death to which they eventually succumbed (Gen. 3:19) but the consequences of that act of disobedience did not stop with Adam and Eve, but the sin which entered into them was then passed down to the rest of us and since we all descend from Adam and Eve, we have inherited from them the sin that entered into them which is why we all sin (Rom. 5:12) and all die as a consequence. (Rom. 6:23)

As Ken Ham pointed out in his post:

Our bodies don’t ultimately wear out and die because of aging. Yes, that might be the natural mechanism—along with sickness, accidents, and intentional killing—but the ultimate reason is the same for everyone. The cause of death is ultimately the same: sin. [4]

And the only cure for death is to be rid of sin.  Get rid of sin and you get rid of death but with mankind, this is impossible because sin resides within us and the only one who can take away our sin is Christ Jesus who can do just that if we are but willing to turn away from our sins and call upon His name for the forgiveness of sins and with the forgiveness of sins comes a cleansed and transformed soul (2 Cor. 5:17) and it is this spiritual transformation that causes us to no longer desire to follow after selfish and worldly pursuits but after those things that pertain to the Kingdom of Heaven,
to no longer take pleasure in those things that are evil and displeasing in the sight of the Lord, but in that which is good, right, and pleasing in His sight,
to no longer desire to walk in the lies of this present world, but only in the truth that comes from Christ Almighty who is the source of all truth, (Jn. 14:6)
no longer placing our hopes in the things of this present world, but looking forward to that new and better world to come, (Rev. 21-22)
to no longer rely on worldly resources, men, or even our own power, abilities, skills, and wisdom for our needs and provision but upon God who is able to meet all of our needs, recognizing that the resources of this world and even the people He brings into our lives are but instruments and vessels through which God meets our needs and that the skills, power, knowledge, and wisdom by which we might acquire our provision are provided and instilled in us by God, (Mt. 6:25-33)
to no longer fear what men can do to us, but rather fearing the God before whom we will have to one day give an account for how we lived our lives, (Mt. 10:28)
to no longer look to corruptible institutions within our society for direction and order in our lives but to God who, by His written Word has given us laws and precepts to be applied to our lives and which serve to produce and maintain an ordered life, and who, by His Holy Spirit which comes to dwell within us upon repentance, establishes in our lives a course and direction in our lives to pursue for His glory,
to no longer seek our own glory but the glory of God,
to no longer rally behind corruptible men, but instead behind the incorruptible God in Heaven bearing in mind that those men and women God raises up for our edification are but instruments and servants of His for that respective purpose to which He has called them,
to no longer seek to align ourselves with the things of darkness but only with the things of the light,
to no longer trust in the wisdom of the world but only on the wisdom and knowledge that comes from above, (Jas. 1:5) nor depend on corruptible earthly authorities to swiftly administer justice, but only in the power of God to deliver us from evil.

And it is this new inward transformation that reconciles us to our Creator (2 Cor. 5:18) from whom we had once been estranged and just as our souls are cleansed from sin and our spirits regenerated in Christ Jesus thereby liberating us from the eternal tormenting punishment that must come upon all who remain in their sins, so one day we look forward to the liberation of our bodies from death itself when our mortal and corruptible forms are transformed into that which is immortal and incorruptible and from that which is imperfect to that which is perfect (1 Cor. 15:51-55, 1 Thess. 4:13-18) and lastly, creation itself will be delivered from the curse placed upon it because of sin when it is made into a new and better world (Rev. 21-22) and in that new world which will be made, there will be no sin, no death, no decay, nor any curse, nor any evil, or violence, suffering, misery, grief, sorrow, mourning, pain, or hardship of any sort for all of these will pass away with this present world.  Instead, there will only be light, life, happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and rest before the Lord God Almighty.

Everything will be again as God intended for it to be.

But in order to be a part of that new and better world in which there is no death, all one need to do is to turn away from their sins and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus for their sins but until the day that the world as we presently know it comes to an end, there will always be those who will continue to seek ways to beat death apart from the very God who, being the source of all life, is able to put an end to all death and that is because they want to be able to do whatever it is that they will and to do that which is right in their own eyes without fear of any consequences or accountability and death is presently a means by which mankind is held accountable for their actions and behavior; it is a judgment and a curse that has come upon the world due our sin and it is something that man wants to be delivered from but without having to submit himself to the authority of the one who is able to deliver from death.  Man, whether he admits it or not, counts death as an enemy; all of life does for that matter because nature recognizes death to be a thing that ought not be even if it doesn’t understand why and even if man himself doesn’t understand why.  Even those who believe death to be a part of the natural life cycle count it as a thing that should not be which why they fight futilely against it and they know that the fight against death is a futile one but yet still continue to hold on to life for as long as they can and they welcome anything that might put an end to death once and for all just so long as that which can put an end to death does not require anything of them and does not require that they turn away from the sins that they take pleasure in committing despite the fact that the sins that they take pleasure in is what gives death its power to begin with and it is because death finds its power in sin that we are called upon by God to repent so that we will no longer be forever condemned to death, but so that we might be raised up to life eternal because eternal life is what we were meant for.

Reader, if you have not done so already and you want to be free from the fear of death and want to be part of a new and better world to come in which death will never exist, then I urge you to call upon the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ today for the forgiveness of sins so that you can have assurance that you will not face eternal condemnation and be certain that you will be in Heaven and made a citizen of the new and better world to come.  It is just a simple sincere prayer of repentance away:

"Lord Jesus I need you.
I realize that I am a sinner
who has fallen short of the glory of God
and that my goodness falls short
of His standard of Moral perfection.

Please forgive me of all of my sins.
Come into my heart and into my life
to be the Savior and Lord of my life.
Make me into the servant and follower
that you want me to be.

In your name Lord Jesus, I pray.

Amen."

The Lord is not concerned with the words that you use as but only with the attitude and sincerity within your heart and if you have, with all sincerity, have asked Him to forgive you of your sins and to be your Savior and Lord, you are already saved and will one day spend eternity with Him forever.
