This Is Exactly How We Are Supposed To Approach Scripture

In the following item, the manner in which Ken Ham describes the approach to scripture [1] is exactly how we all need to learn to approach scripture from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in the book of Revelation:

What is presented as literal and actual history needs to be taken as such and what is presented as figurative, metaphorical, or allegorical needs to be taken as such but sadly, many false teachers and heretics have made the scriptures out to be more vague and obscure than they actually are by attempting to reconcile scripture to philosophies that stand in opposition to the accounts, prophecies, doctrine, and instruction thereof.

Attempts to impose interpretations upon the scriptures to which they bear no witness or support has been responsible for more false doctrines and heresies which have misrepresented, cast doubt upon, and have even overthrown the faith in the minds and hearts of some than anything else ever has been.

At the heart of virtually every false doctrine and heresy is either a twisting of scripture or an attempt to impose a rendering upon the scripture which the text and full counsel thereof do not support.

If we are to have a proper understanding of what the general revelation of God to all of humanity is conveying, it is vitally important that all presuppositions, be they philosophical, theological, or even cultural, be put aside so that we may see and understand clearly what the Bible has to say for itself and to base our understanding and rendering thereof upon its presented context and the full counsel thereof on any given matter on which the scriptures speak.

If we would only learn to confine our understanding and rendering of the scriptures to the confines of the text presented to us and of the context of the full counsel on anything the scriptures may address, there would be a much clearer understanding of what God is conveying to us through His Word and far less confusion.  There would also be far less falsehood within the body of Christ than there is presently as well.
