No, We Cannot Generalize Women Voters Any More Than We Can Men
That was the question examined by
writer and podcaster Joseph M. Leonard and what prompted him to examine whether
or not women voters can be generalized was a meme being circulated on SM
showing one woman crying and then another who is armed and the message of the
meme was that is that Democrats want to make sure a woman is able to have an
abortion if she gets raped whereas Republicans want the woman to be able to
have the means on hand with her to prevent the rape in the first place and
while I have seen this meme myself, I have not been able to find it again
though I am sure that for those of you out there who are active SM users, you
may very well have seen it before and know what I am talking about and that in
and of itself brings up other issues that I am not ready to specifically
examine or address in this particular blogpost because the purpose of this
blogpost was to expound upon the question of whether or not women voters can be
generalized. Now, Leonard, to his
credit, concludes that no, we cannot and should not generalize female voters
any more than we should generalize male voters.
What also prompted the question was a
statement from a GAB user called Fed Drone who allegedly stated that “millennial
and later born women are the worst threat to democracy, emotional basket cases
who are destroying America with their lack of thinking and dependency on
feeling and buying the feminist bull fed them.” [1]
Generalizing an entire generation,
gender, demographic, or class of people only leads to stereotyping and even
prejudice and no one will ever win any hearts and minds over to any given cause
that way and as Christians, we will never be able to persuade the lost to
embrace Christ that way either and it seems to me this Fed Drone fellow that
Leonard came across needs to expand his experience beyond the college campus
and academic setting because if he did, he might find that not all Millennial
or Gen Z women necessarily think or operate the same way that the academically
indoctrinated women do but if we really wish to be honest, academically
indoctrinated men are just as much a threat to democracy as indoctrinated women
are; the minds of both are being poisoned with lies and are being taught to
hate the country they have grown up in and to despise anything having to do
with God, and even to deny absolute truth and absolute morality to the point of
going so far as to deny even the most basic facts.
But I fear what is driving the
prejudice of this Fed Drone is a male chauvinistic and possibly even a
misogynistic spirit that I have also from time to time encountered on SM from
men who blame allowing women the same civil rights as men, including the right
to vote, to pursue and work in the same occupations traditionally held by men,
and to be paid the same salaries as the men they work with. They would rather see women confined to the
home and dependent upon men for their provision and financial stability but the
greatest threat to “democracy” is not one gender or another and it is not women
who are strong and independent and who exercise their right to vote as men do. “The greatest threat to democracy” is a
spiritual one.
There is nothing in scripture that
prevents a woman from voicing her opinions and thoughts or from doing most
things that men do such as working outside the home, serving in corporate or
civic leadership positions, engaging in entrepreneurship, or putting her
God-given gifts and talents to use in accordance to the respective purpose to
which God has called her.
Women are presently afforded and
given as many rights and liberties as any man and cannot be legally
discriminated or prevented from pursuing occupations that have, in past times,
been traditionally reserved for men and though women are present in almost
every occupation traditionally carried out by men (i.e. road construction, law
enforcement, military combat service, carpentry, automotive repair, operating
heavy machinery) there still continues to be more men within those occupations
than women not necessarily because women continue to be discriminated against,
but because most women simply are not interested in traditionally
male-dominated occupations but possess different interests and therefore are
going to pursue a livelihood, career, or occupation that is consistent with
those interests.
In fact, according to the second
chapter in the book of Genesis, the woman was not created to be fully dependent
upon the man for everything, for, as it was written, she was created to be a
help meet or an assisting close and intimate companion to the man (Gen. 2:18,
24) but man-made tradition, culture, masculine pride, male chauvinism, and even
misogyny subjugated women to, in many cases, a state of dependency and the more
dependent the woman is made to be on the man, the less of a help-meet she is
able to be to him, but the more independent and self-sufficient the woman, the
more of a help-meet she can be to her husband and the less dependent she is on
a man for all her material needs, the more likely she will pursue marriage out
of love for the man she desires to spend the rest of her life with and nothing
more.
Furthermore, when we read Proverbs
31, we do not read about a dependent woman, we read about a woman who is fairly
self-sufficient and even financially self-sufficient. She is also productive, compassionate,
hospitable, respected and loved by her husband and children, and has the best
interests of everyone in her household at heart. (Prov. 31:10-31)
So, far from what culture and the
traditions and prejudices of men may teach, the Bible actually commends strong
and independent women as long as they use the strength and independence given
them to build up and strengthen their households and for the furtherance of
those things good and right in the sight of the Lord and not for self-serving
or wicked purposes.
That there are differences between
men and women, and not just in their physiology (which is obvious) but also in
their thinking processes cannot be disputed but that does not make one gender
superior or inferior to another. It is
just that both men and women were designed created to carry out the respective
roles for which they were created. There
are some tasks that are best done with a man’s strength and mind and then there
are other tasks that are best done with a woman’s touch and each man and each woman
is given the talents, gifts, and interests in accordance to each respective
purpose to which they are called and whatever their calling and purpose in
life, they need to pursue it daily.
But please do not misunderstand
me:
I am not against the traditional
setting of a man taking on the role of being the bread winner of the home while
his wife stays at home to care for the children and maintain the house and if
it be made tenable for any couple to attain, then by all means I would
encourage it, but unfortunately, that is not something that is possible for
everyone and if the activities of a woman are to be confined to the house, then
she should not be confining her activities to the home due to tradition, the
expectations of the culture, her family, or to appease a man’s pride and ego
but should only do so out of nothing more than a personal conviction that is
placed in her by none other than the God who made her for she pursue that which
God has placed in her heart to pursue, be it affairs within the home or
without, only then will she feel fulfilled in her respective purpose.
The best thing that a man can do for
a woman is, to whatever extent is given him, be supportive of the dreams and
aspirations that have been placed in her heart to pursue as long as they
respectable and honorable aspirations that lead to the betterment of both him
and her which are also good and right in the sight of God and will bring glory
to His name and not keep her dependent upon him but allow and enable her to be
as independent and as self-sufficient as she possibly can and the best
protection that a man can give his wife is the ability and means to defend
herself when he cannot be there to protect her from harm and when with her,
then the best protection that he can give her is to throw himself in between
her and anything that might otherwise cause her harm, even if doing so might
cost him his life.
Another thing that can be said to
Leonard’s credit is that he states---and I am sure this is something that we
should all be able to agree on---that women need to be able to protect
themselves just as much as men do which is why I am totally for women learning
how to use firearms and not only am I for women being proficient in firearm use
but also in the use of other weapons, or with anything that can be used as a
weapon, and I am also for women learning advanced hand-to-hand combat skills
(including lethal ones) to the best of their ability as well.
The cited meme does paint a good
analogy between what “empowerment”, as it pertains to women, means to
conservatives in comparison to what it means to progressives.
And it seems to me that female
empowerment in the eyes of the progressives means enabling them to kill an
unwanted baby or wear as little clothing as they want or in some cases, nothing
at all, if they so choose, in order to draw attention to themselves and post
lewd photos of themselves on social media with little or no regard to the
consequences of their behavior whereas the empowerment of a woman, in the eyes
of the conservative and even the Christian is in her character and priorities. One side seeks to keep the woman in a state
of dependency and ultimately bondage.
The other seeks to empower her to be as independent and as
self-sufficient as possible.
But it isn’t just women that the left
seeks to subjugate to a state of dependency but men as well, thereby bringing
both into bondage by promising a greater security and even a greater liberty
than what we already have and it has been this way since the beginning ever
since the first lie ever told which promised a greater enlightenment, greater
power, and a greater freedom to man but instead led him into a bondage and
darkness that he could never have imagined and ever since that day, there has
been a war for the hearts, minds, and souls of every man, woman, and child ever
since..
One side is the source of truth,
unfailing hope, goodness, happiness, peace, joy, life, harmony, unity, and love
and in love, offers redemption, salvation, meaning, purpose, and hope to all
willing to receive it.
The other side is the father of evil,
lies, death, decay, destruction, misery, despair, hate, chaos, disorder,
discord, oppression and leads as many as it can into an everlasting damnation
filled with torment.
One side is responsible for the
creation of life and at one time made a world filled with peace, harmony, joy,
and unity between the Creator, man, and nature.
The other side is responsible for the
disruption of that peace, harmony, joy, happiness, and love that the God who
made the heavens and the earth had intended for the world to be and for
bringing into it all that which God hates and for which this present world will
face eventual judgment and destruction.
When God had created this world, He
had everything in it, including man, to be intrinsically good by nature but
then the enemy of God defiled and corrupted that which God had created. This enemy of God was an angel by the name of
Lucifer, who had once served at the throne of God as the guardian of the cherub
before being cast out of that position for, in his pride and arrogance,
attempting to take for himself that which belongs to God alone (Is. 14:11-21,
Ezek. 28:12-19) for when he, and others with him, rebelled against their
Creator, they were deprived of their positions in Heaven and after having being
been cast from the place that he held in Heaven, Lucifer crept into the world
in which God had made for man to dwell.
Now, when God had created mankind, he
had set the first man Adam, and the first woman Eve, the wife of Adam, to have
dominion over all of the earth (Gen. 1:26) and there was nothing withheld from
man except for one thing: A tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil. Adam and his wife Eve were warned
that in the day that they ate of that forbidden fruit that they would surely
die. (Gen. 2:16-17, 3:3)
But by a lie, and the first lie ever
known to man, Lucifer, better known as Satan, in the form of a serpent caused
man to commit the one forbidden thing that subjugated the world to every kind
of evil, grief, sorrow, pain, sadness, misery, oppression, and adversity that
has ever been or could ever be.
He had deceitfully told the first
woman Eve, that she and her husband Adam would not die if they ate of the
forbidden fruit, but that they would be as gods and be more enlightened (Gen.
3:4-5) but instead of receiving the enlightenment they were promised, they
experienced shame (Gen. 3:7-9) and unlike what Satan had assured them, Adam and
Eve were sentenced to eventual death for their transgression (Gen. 3:19) and
the death sentence that came upon them came by way of sin which entered into
them both but it did not stop with them, for the sin that entered into them
also entered into all people because it is from Adam and Eve from whom all men
descend (Rom. 5:12) and because all descend from Adam and Eve, all have
inherited sin which brings death (Rom. 6:23) and because all sin, all die, but
sin is not merely an evil act or a cruel or carelessly spoken word, but it is
the inherent inward corrupted condition of our nature. Before sin entered into man, he was made to
be intrinsically good, but when sin entered into him, he was turned from being
intrinsically good to being by nature inherently evil. That is not to say, however, that man does
not possess the capacity to choose good over evil or to do that which is good
or right, but the inherently evil nature within him that is called sin causes
the goodness of man to fall short of the purity and perfection that God
requires (Rom. 3:23) thereby keeping man estranged and separated from his
Maker.
But the consequences of man’s
disobedience were not confined to man alone, but extended to the rest of
creation by way of a curse that came upon it due to sin which is why it is
written that all of creation groans and travails in pain to this day. (Rom. 8:19-22)
And furthermore, the transgression of
Adam and Eve gave Satan justification to claim lordship over the nations and
kingdoms of the earth (Mt. 4:8-9, Lk. 4:6-7) which is why he is called the
prince of this world. (Jn. 12:31, 16:11)
By a lie did Satan cause man to do
that which brought death to him which is why he is called a murderer (Jn. 8:44)
and not just of the body but of the soul as well for by causing man to commit
the transgression that caused sin to enter into him which then brought upon him
death not just in body, but also death to him spiritually by, through sin
causing him to be estranged from his Maker and it is that very lie by which
Satan caused sin and death to enter into the world that makes him the father of
lies (v. 44) because the very lie that subjugated man to sin and death was the
first known lie ever told or recorded.
And because the effects of sin were
not just limited to man but extended to all of creation, Satan is also called a
destroyer (Jn. 10:10) and because he usurped the power and dominion that was
initially given to man, he is also called a thief (v. 10) and the thief has
lied, stolen, killed and destroyed and continues to do so to this day but the
Lord God Almighty has not left us without hope because He is not willing that
any of us should perish in our sins and be destined for eternal torment, but
that all would come to repentance and escape the everlasting punishment to
which they would otherwise be subject (2 Pet. 3:9) and He has provided us
redemption and salvation in Jesus Christ who is without sin (2 Cor. 5:21) and
therefore was able to be that perfect and uncorrupted sacrifice (Heb. 7:26-27)
that was offered up on behalf of sinful man through His death upon the cross on
which His blood was shed and it was in His death that the demanded penalty for
sin was satisfied and redemption purchased on our behalf and after having
through His death suffered the penalty for our sins, was raised again from the
dead so that by faith we might be justified in Him (Rom. 4:25) if we, fully
trusting, will call upon His name for the forgiveness of sins so that we may be
saved from eternal damnation. (Rom. 10:13)
For when we call upon the name of
Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, our souls are cleansed from its stain and by
the cleansing of our sins are then admitted into Heaven and with the cleansing
of our sins comes reconciliation to the God from who our sins had once
estranged us (2 Cor. 5:18) and with redemption comes a spiritual transformation
within us that makes us inwardly a new person in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:17) and
it is this spiritual transformation that causes us to no longer desire to
follow after selfish and worldly pursuits but after those things that pertain
to the Kingdom of Heaven,
to no longer take pleasure in those
things that are evil and displeasing in the sight of the Lord, but in that
which is good, right, and pleasing in His sight,
to no longer desire to walk in the
lies of this present world, but only in the truth that comes from Christ
Almighty, no longer placing our hopes in the things of this present world, but
looking forward to that new and better world to come, (Rev. 21-22)
to no longer rely on worldly
resources, men, or even our own power, abilities, skills, and wisdom for our
needs and provision but upon God who is able to meet all of our needs,
recognizing that the resources of this world and even the people He brings into
our lives are but instruments and vessels through which God meets our needs and
that the skills, power, knowledge, and wisdom by which we might acquire our
provision are provided and instilled in us by God,
to no longer fear what men can do to
us, but rather fearing the God before whom we will have to one day give an
account for how we lived our lives, (Mt. 10:28)
to no longer look to corruptible
institutions within our society for direction and order in our lives but to God
who, by His written Word has given us laws and precepts to be applied to our
lives and which serve to produce and maintain an ordered life, and who, by His
Holy Spirit which comes to dwell within us upon repentance, establishes in our
lives a course and direction in our lives to pursue for His glory,
to no longer seek our own glory but
the glory of God,
to no longer rally behind corruptible
men, but instead behind the incorruptible God in Heaven bearing in mind that
those men and women God raises up for our edification are but instruments and
servants of His for that respective purpose to which He has called them,
to no longer seek to align ourselves
with the things of darkness but only with the things of the light,
to no longer trust in the wisdom of
the world but only on the wisdom and knowledge that comes from above, nor
depend on corruptible earthly authorities to swiftly administer justice, but
only in the power of God to deliver us from evil.
And the more people embrace this
change within themselves that can only be given to them by Christ Jesus, the
less power and influence Satan has in the world and every soul that is
persuaded to repentance and not only persuaded to repentance, but also discipled
into faithful service to Christ, is a defeat and a blow to the enemy which is
why he fights and continues to fight to this very day to take and hold captive
as many souls as he possibly can and to suppress anything that might open the
eyes of the lost to the truth of the Gospel message by which men are saved from
the coming judgment and eternal damnation and also in which they find an
unfailing hope and lasting meaning and purpose to their lives because the day
is coming when that which Satan had stolen from man through the transgression
of Adam will be taken back by Christ Jesus our Lord when He casts Satan out of
this world and pronounces upon that evil one his final sentence (Rev. 20:10-15)
and in that day, creation itself will be liberated from the curse that came
upon it because of the sin of man when it is made anew, and just as our souls
are made clean from sin and are liberated from spiritual death, so one day we
will also be liberated from bodily death when our present forms in which sin
dwells are changed from that which is sinful and corruptible to that which is
incorruptible (1 Cor. 15:51-55, 1 Thess. 4:13-18) and in which no sin dwells
for where there is no sin, there is no death and we also look forward to the
new and better world to come when this present world and all the evil that is
in it is done away with and a new creation is put in the place of the old in
which there is no sin, no death or decay, no evil, nor any grief, sorrow,
anguish, torment, suffering, misery, or any hardship or adversity of any sort,
but instead, there shall only be light, life, peace, joy, contentment,
happiness, and harmony before the Lord God Almighty. (Rev. 21-22)
It is sin that has disrupted that
perfect and harmonious relationship that God had intended to be between men and
women and between a man and his wife.
It is sin that causes women, instead
of seeking the welfare of the man to whom she joins herself, to join herself to
him only for the sake of her own welfare, self-serving gain, and convenience;
making promises to him that she does not intend to keep but instead will
abandon him when things become inconvenient, when she has taken from everything
she can steal, when the health and the hands of the man fail, when he is beset
by scarcity instead of abundance, when a heavy loss is suffered, and when he is
afflicted with failure instead of success, or when another who appears to have
more to offer her crosses her path.
It is sin that causes the man to
subjugate the woman to a state of dependency, that causes him in his pride to
prevent her from fulfilling the dreams and ambitions that have been placed in
her heart to pursue.
It is sin that causes both the man
and wife who to share with others what should only be shared between each
other.
It is sin that causes both to crush
each other’s spirits rather than lift each other up.
It is sin that causes both to lie to
and betray each other rather than faithfully keep the vows and the covenant
that they have made to one another and even before God Almighty.
And it is sin that causes a man and a
woman to come together and cleave to one another for any other reason other
than love for one another.
But it was intended by God that a
woman and a man join and cleave one to another in sincere love at all times and
that she seek his betterment rather than her own and that she be supportive of
the purpose and respective calling that has been placed in her husband’s heart,
mind, and soul, that she be a loving companion to him not just when it is
convenient, but even in times of inconvenience and to endure all things, both
good and bad, with him and that she would concern herself with what she can do
to empower her husband towards a stable and even prosperous life rather than depend
on him for financial and material stability and before I go on any further,
does that mean that the man shouldn’t work and try to be a provider for his
household? No, I am not saying that at all because the Bible makes it very
clear that if a man will not work, then he shouldn’t eat (2 Thess. 3:10) but
what I am saying is that the reason for why a man should work is not to win the
love and favor of the woman, but he is to work so that he may survive and also
acquire substance that he can contribute to the Kingdom of God and to society.
It is also intended by God for the
husband to love and cherish the woman who joins herself to him and in a
self-sacrificial manner, putting her needs and interests above his own, but
never to subjugate her to a state of dependency or prevent her from pursuing
the respective purpose that God has placed on her life but instead be
supportive in her pursuits just as he would likewise want her to be supportive
in his own respective pursuits and if he is to be head over her, that he should
be a head over her that is neither harsh nor abusive but loving and gentle
And because the Almighty has decreed
marriage between the man and woman to be for as long as they both should live,
it is also His will that they should be joined together in a sincere and
lasting love for one another and nothing more for the marital bond was and is
intended at all times to be a joy to both the woman and the man and a joy and
happiness that they ought to find in each other every day and every moment that
they are together and never a misery, burden, or drudgery.
It is also the desire and decree of
God that both the man and the woman should lift each other up and never
disparage one another, that they bear with each other’s faults and shortcomings
as they are both fallen and corruptible beings, and that they never share with
anyone else that which should be reserved for themselves alone nor engage in an
intimacy with any others that should only be taking place between they and they
alone and they should be content and satisfied only in each other, never to
desire any other.
And it is the desire and will of God
that when a man and a woman join together in holy matrimony, that they should,
at all times keep their vows to one another and in all good faith and sincerity
with hopes and prayers for the best while willing to also accept the
consequences of the union they have both chosen.
Only if men and women unite together
in one faith and creed under God in Christ Jesus can there ever be hope of
eliminating the gender divide, recognizing that God is no respecter of persons
(Acts 10:34) and He has given one law to be applied equally to the woman as
well as the man (Num. 15:16) and therefore, if He is no respecter of persons
and has given a moral standard to be made just as applicable to the woman as it
is to the man, then He has also given the woman the same rights and liberties
as He has to the man regardless of what the cultures and traditions around the
world and throughout history may declare.
And I urge any today who have not yet
done so to put away all prejudices towards one another and all prideful feelings
of superiority you harbor for we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory
of God; granted some more so than others, but we have all in some form or
fashioned sinned and fallen short of his glory nonetheless and we will all have
to give an account before Him one day for all that we have said and done and
not only that, our very thoughts, motives, and attitudes will be taken into
account as well and it will by one law and one standard by which we will all be
judged and it will not be the goodness of our fellow man to which our own
goodness is compared to, it will be the goodness of God to which our goodness
will be compared and how short does, because of sin, our goodness fall short
from the goodness of God and what a fearful and dread-filled day for those who
are still in their sins when they stand before God Almighty regardless of their
gender, age, skin-color, nationality, ethnic origins, lineage, occupation they
held in life, economic or social status which is why I urge every reader who
has not yet done so to call upon the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness
of sins. It is but a simple prayer of
repentance away.
"Lord Jesus I need you.
I realize that I am a sinner
who has fallen short of the glory of
God
and that my goodness falls short
of your standard of Moral perfection.
Please forgive me of all of my sins.
Come into my heart and into my life
to be the Savior and Lord of my life.
Make me into the servant and follower
that you want me to be.
In your name Lord Jesus, I pray.
Amen."
Know that God is not concerned with
the words that you use to call upon Him forgiveness, but with the attitude of
your heart and if you have, with all sincerity, have asked Christ to forgive
you of your sins, placing your trust in Him only for your salvation and in
nothing else, then your sins are forgiven and your place in Heaven is certain.
