One Prayer From Each State For Our Nation For Fifty Days: Day 13
Philip Miller, Pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois:
“Hey, everybody. It’s Pastor Philip Miller from The Moody Church in downtown Chicago in Illinois. Would you join me in prayer? Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, we come to You with gratitude and thanksgiving, because You have blessed us as a nation. As we think of celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary, we thank You for all Your kindnesses to us—kindnesses we haven’t always deserved.
Psalm 41 verse one says, “Blessed is the one who considers the poor.” And our prayer focus today is on the fact that, in so many ways, we’ve failed to do that as a country. We’ve failed to consider the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized. And, that’s part of our story, and we confess that to You.
We pray that we, as Your church, people called by Your Name, would lead the way in bringing justice and healing and mercy to our land, that we would care for the poor, the oppressed, the widow, the orphan, and that our light would so shine before men that when people see our good deeds, they give glory to You, our Father in Heaven.
And so, help Your church to lead the way in caring in this area for the poor, the oppressed, and those who get trampled on in so many ways.
And so, Father, we pray for Your continued favor and blessing upon our nation as we humble ourselves and seek Your face. Would You bring revival to our land and help us?
We pray this in Jesus’ Name, amen. Thanks, and let’s keep on praying.”
